| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005)
In Search Of Angels CD music
$12.79 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a ...

| | Cash Audio Orange Sessions CD (2001)
In Search Of Angels music CDs
$8.39 Known as Cash Money before legal trouble prompted a moniker switch, Cash Audio's Orange Records debut sticks with the band's tried and true noisy blues-rock formula. A stripped-down duo consisting of vocals, guitar, and drums, Cash Audio is working with a limited palette, to say the least. While Cash Audio is very much in the vein of acts like the Immortal Lee County Killers, Bantam Rooster, and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (all of which have to some degree influenced the new wave of minimalist blues bands of the moment like the White Stripes and Blackeyed Snakes), the band seems to lack the fire and personality of those acts. Spencer and Rooster rely, to varying degrees, on raw sexuality as their music's source of passion, and while rock & roll doesn't always have to be about sex and drugs, it can sure spice things up in the right measure. The Orange Sessions finds the formerly combustible Cash Audio sleepwalking through soggy numbers that lack any trace of the band's former spark. When there are only three elements to the band, taking one away is a bad idea; thus, the outfit's decision to record most of the tracks sans vocals seems like a bad one. (In the exceedingly long and equally boring interview that wraps up the disc, they explain that instrumentals are "more expressive." Whatever.) In all, those already in the Cash Audio fan club will more than likely really enjoy The Orange Sessions, and those who are introduced to the band through this record will like it, too. However, those expecting anything new or exciting from the band will be disappointed to find that it's just more of the same old thing, making Cash Audio the sonic equivalent of eating Monday's leftover meatloaf on Wednesday. With any luck, they'll get their spark back by the next release. ~ Karen E. Graves
Chicago's Cash Audio has virtually seen everything and been almost everywhere. They've traversed the country, playing in every chicken shack, on every flatbed and in every stale theater there is to play. They've had equipment stolen from behind their backs. They've had tire blow-outs doing 80 on the interstate. They've even had to change their name from Cash Money due to some bullshit lawsuit from some half-assed, no talent rap label. RAP!?? They've been dogged and abused by promoters and bartenders in too many gin mills to mention. State troopers know them by their first names. And then, of course, there's the good times...You could say that Cash Audio has been living the blues. Granted, the modern-day blues. But that doesn't mean Cash Audio is a blues band. They're aren't up on stage belting out some watered down version of "Sweet Home Chicago" or cock-and-bull rave up of "Caldonia." Get it straight, Cash Audio is not a blues band. This IS, though, 100 percent American Rock and Roll. And where did Rock and Roll come out of? Exactly. It must be said, though, if you like the blues, you'll probably like Cash Audio. Then again, if you like shoving your hand in a blender, you'll probably like Cash Audio as ...

| | Angela Ortiz All About You CD (2006)
In Search Of Angels album
$6.69 The daughter of two schoolteachers, Angela taught herself to play piano in a house on twenty-four acres of evergreen forest in woefully rural western New York State. But, living idyllically in the middle of nowhere afforded little Angela the chance to throw herself headlong into the creation of what has become her own unique brand of piano-based, alternative soul-pop.Giving up small town living for the unpredictability of the Big City, Angela moved to New York City to study music at NYU. While there, studying classical voice, she discovered that it was ultimately more fulfilling to sing her own words, so she began writing songs during the time that she was supposed to be practicing "Oh, dry the glist'ning tear".The songs she began to write in hijacked college practice rooms became the foundation for her first album, "All About You". Self-produced, and recorded entirely at home, these eleven tracks include collaborations with some of the best musicians in the NYC music scene. The songs deal with everyday issues like disappointment and gratitude, self-doubt and self-indulgence, but mostly they revolve around a burning desire to answer the constant question, "What's next?"Selected songs from "All About You" were awarded The Silver Award (Pop) at The Mid-Atlantic Songwriter's Awards, garnering the interest of Random Chance Records, who licensed "All About You" and made it available worldwide ...

| | Silver Seas High Society CD (2007)
In Search Of Angels songs
$10.45 Rock has come roaring back in recent years, and it's now de rigueur for critics to hear most music through a '70s prism. Thus the Silver Seas (formerly the Bees) have found themselves tagged as soft rock and mentioned rather bizarrely in the same sentence as many of that genre's singer/songwriter heroes. In truth, though, the prior decade seems to be where the group draw much of their inspiration. Their harmonies, for instance, oft times echo the Beach Boys, particularly on the lavish "We'll Go Walking" and the bouncy "Hard Luck Tom," although "Ms. November" is the best ...
