Animated; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack Spanish With astounding animation, inspirational messages, and endearing characters, Pixar Animation Studios (THE INCREDIBLES, CARS) and Walt Disney Pictures have whipped up something special with RATATOUILLE. A rat named Remy (Patton Oswalt) lives in Paris with a dream (and the talent) to be a chef. Opting to raid the kitchens of Paris rather than the garbage cans and sewers of the city with his family, Remy is inspired by the philosophy of one of the city's most legendary chefs, the late Gusteau (Brad Garrett). One night, Remy can't resist practicing his skill in Gusteau's restaurant. While his guard is down, Remy is discovered by a klutzy young man, Linguini (Lou Romano), who cleans the kitchen. Together Remi and Linguini become a culinary duo, with Remy playing puppeteer by concealing himself under Linguini's chef's hat. Remy pulls Linguini's hair to direct his hands, helping to bring Remy's creations to life. Soon Gusteau's restaurant becomes the talk of the town--but would it still be the toast of Paris if everyone knew a rat was running the show?
The positioning of a city-dwelling rodent with a distinct palate and the aptitude to concoct mouthwatering dishes in one of Paris's finest eateries is the winning ingredient in RATATOUILLE's inspirational presentation. And Remy's brave conviction to break away from the pack and risk his life for what he loves and believes in gives the film a positive and heartwarming message for all ages. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time I don't get out to see many movies and so when I heard about it, I had to go out and see it. It has a great story line, incredibly hilarious and incredible fresh characters and animation. After seeing it, I just wanted to see it again and again.
Fun for the whole family - Disney and Pixar at their very finest. Submitted by 3brtownhouse (Edmonton Alberta Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 2 found this helpful. This review is for a different format.

High five for Pixar Pixar has done it again. Ratatouille is complete genius. The storyline is amazing and in my opinion this is my favorite animated comedy of the year. Submitted by Gamesml (Wake Forest, NC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
Brad Bird to the rescue This film was in limbo with Pixar until Brad Bird was called in to rescue it. It is absolutely wonderful, and appropriate for ALL ages. Bird consistently knocks off major works of superior craftsmanship, and I can't wait to see what he orchestrates next. See this, Iron Giant, and all the rest. $10.15 Will Smith brings hip-hop zest to the voice of Oscar, a fast-talking everyfish who rejects his life at the whale wash and longs for fortune and fame in this animated film from Dreamworks. A combination of FINDING NEMO and GOODFELLAS, here sharks are old-school gangsters who prey on the local citizenry and hang out in the wreck of the Titanic. Martin Scorsese does the voice of Mr. Sykes, Oscar's blowfish boss, who owes head Shark Don Lino (Robert De Niro) a lot of clams. Don Lino wants to turn over his reign to his two sons, but youngest Lenny (Jack Black) is a closet vegetarian. The plot thickens when Oscar takes credit for the accidental death of Lenny's brother, and suddenly finds the fame and fortune he's been seeking, only it's based on the lie that he's "the shark slayer." It's tough not to like this spunky fish story, especially with Scorsese and De Niro verbally one-upping each other in some hilarious bits. Also noteworthy: a pair of hilariously mellow Rastafarian jellyfish (Ziggy Marley and Doug E. Doug) and Peter Falk as an old Tiger Shark who hangs around the ...

| | Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull DVD (2008) Widescreen
Ratatouille video
$14.45 Harrison Ford dusts off his infamous brown fedora for another Indiana Jones film, which is once again made by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. The year is 1957, and Indy is on the run from a team of Russian spies led by a rapier-wielding Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett). The Russians want Indy to help them locate an ancient artifact that they believe can be used as the ultimate military weapon. Indy manages a narrow escape, and tries to return to his life as a professor of archaeology, but he soon bumps into a '50s greaser named Mutt (Shia LeBeouf). Mutt's mother as well as one of Indy's longtime friends have been captured somewhere in Peru. Mutt and Indy hop a plane, where they manage to track down both Mutt's mother, Marian (Karen Allen), and Professor Oxley (John Hurt), but they also find themselves surrounded by the same scheming Russians. The Russians have found the artifact they were seeking, but Indy now knows its secret and dangerous powers. With the help of Mutt, Marian, and Oxley, he races to return it to its rightful resting place.
While a bit more grizzled than the last time we saw him cracking his whip, Ford still manages to bring the right mix of humor and swagger to Indy. Longtime fans are sure to love the many inside jokes and nods to the previous films, as well as the reappearance of some favorite old characters. While CRYSTAL SKULL has the same exotic locales and wild chases of the earlier movies, it definitely sets itself apart with its heavy use of CGI. The visuals are indeed impressive, ...
| | John Legend Evolver CDs (2008) With DVD; Deluxe Edition
Ratatouille film
$16.09 The third full-length from John Legend finds the neo-soul singer-songwriter mixing it up a bit. Whereas its predecessor, the excellent ONCE AGAIN, stayed the course of smooth yet passionate retro-themed R&B, EVOLVER experiments with different sounds and styles. The lead single, "Green Light," with its amped-up programmed beat, synths, and cameo from Andre 3000, sounds more like a 21st-century club jam than an old-school throwback. Reggae, ballads, adult contemporary, and digitized contemporary R&B all make their way into the album's diverse musical stew. Whether it's the mellow, low-key funk of "It's Over," the synth-pop of "Satisfaction" (one can imagine the song being performed by Depeche Mode), or the guest spots from Brandy, Estelle, and Kanye West, EVOLVER keeps the listener guessing. It may not have the consistency of Legend's first two releases, but its cornucopia of interesting sounds and directions offer something for everyone.
This DVD/CD deluxe set includes his album featuring Kanye West, Andree 3000, and Estelle.
Arrangers: Dwayne Chin-Quee; Stephen Tirpak; Dave Tozer; Larry Gold; Nick Ingman; Pete Murray.
Personnel: John Legend (vocals, piano, keyboards, background vocals); Estelle, Brandy (vocals, background vocals); Agape International Choir, Kanye West, ...
