2007 digitally remastered edition of this classic debut album the group that brought Dave Edmunds to public attention. This issue was mastered from the original tapes and expanded to include both the A and B-sides of their first two singles. His importance in the history of Welsh rock music can't be understated and his recording career began with this trio. Edmunds emerged as a guitar hero of extreme prowess. The group's first single was released as The Human Beans, but their name was changed prior to the release of this album. The tracks include the stunning "Summertime" and the title track, admired on both sides of the Atlantic. Esoteric
As hyperkinetic blues albums by white English kids go, this is a good one. Dave Edmunds, armed only with a 1959 Gibson 335 and a 100-watt Marshall stack, cranks through these recognizable blues covers (with one original instrumental) with reckless abandon and gobs of technique. Backup support is handled by bassist John Williams and drummer Bob "Congo" Jones, who do their best to keep up and provide a rhythmic foundation for Edmunds to wail over. Edmunds also handled nearly all the vocals, and as blues singers go, he's merely serviceable, but what makes this album worthwhile is the revved-up guitar playing, especially when Edmunds shreds both Freddy King's "The Stumble" and Willie Dixon's "Wang Dang Doodle." ~ John Dougan

| | Leah Andreone Veiled CD (1996)
Blues Helping songs
$9.35 All tracks have been digitally mastered using HDCD technology.
Leah Andreone's debut, Veiled, can be compared to Alanis Morissette at times -- overtly sexual lyrics mixed with slinky, melodic alterna-pop. But her songs stand on their own with sincere and confessional content, often seeming like the tunes are a form of therapy for Leah. "It's Alright, It's OK" opens the album on an upbeat note, with an instantly memorable chorus kicking the song into high gear. "Happy Birthday" is the most Alanis-like track on the album, while other tracks such as the acoustic "You Make Me Remember," the rocking "Who Are They to Say," and the funky "Hell to Pay" all hit the mark. Although not as successfully experimental as her next album, 1998's Alchemy, Veiled does a more than adequate job of capturing Leah Andreone at her most basic and straightforward. ~ Greg Prato
I'm black, I'm white, I'm the human race Call me Eve, how's the apple taste? In search of self, we all play many roles and wear many masks -- a fact that most people try mightily to ignore. But for 23-year-old singer/songwriter Leah ...

I like it when Warren makes all the funny noises. The poems are good. My favorite is 'The Teachers' Lounge' Thanks" Charlie (age 12)"I know how it feels to have a last name cursed by alphabetical order. It's really funny and I enjoy listening to it through my brother's door (he listens to it at bedtime). The poems are artful and well written. My favorite is 'The Teachers' Lounge' too. Thanks-" Harry (age 15)"Our family has been Bill Harley fans for years. we have seen him perform live on two occasions. My 11 year old daughter and I listened to 'The Teachers' Lounge'this weekend in the car on a long drive into the city. I think this is his finest work so far. We smiled, we laughed, we came close to some sympathetic tears, and we learned about ourselves. We are already looking forward to his next work." Liza"I've already played the CD several times. In 1964, while still in Jr. High School, he was chosen to open the bill for the Reverend Gary Davis at Detroit's legendary Retort Coffee House. This engagement resulted in a fast and permanent friendship with the master blues, ragtime, and gospel guitarist. Rev. Davis was so taken by the young Ruskin's skill and eagerness, that he invited Rick to spend that summer with him at his Long Island home. By the end of the summer, Davis stopped teaching Rick new material and told him, "It's time you started paying attention to your own music." Ruskin has been doing that ever since.Rick Ruskin's achievements as a musician and composer are many andvaried:Original Compositions and/or Arrangements Used By:Mel Bay PublicationsA&E NetworkABC-TVNBC's-TV Hewlett PackardSecond Story TelevisionArmand ...
