$9.85 Jon Ward Bauman received the Bachelor of Music in composition degree from the University of Colorado where he studied with Cecil Effinger. The Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees were received from the University of Illinois where he studied composition with Robert Kelly and Salvatore Martirano. In 1965 Bauman was awarded a Fulbright Grant to study with Bernd-Alois Zimmermann in Cologne, Germany.He taught general music in the Chicago Public School System and, from 1970 to 2003, was a member of the faculty at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland. In addition to his duties in theory and composition, he directed the Jazz Ensemble. He founded the New Music Group and served as Chair of the department. He taught at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica, in Adria, Italy in the spring of 2002, 2004 and 2005. Symphonies No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, “Horizons”, and “Divertimento” for string orchestra have been recorded by the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra. “Adagio” for orchestra was recorded by the Slovak Radio Orchestra. “Overture to McNeill’s Rangers” was recorded by the Potomac Highlands Symphony Orchestra. String Quartets No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 and “Andante Cantabile” were recorded by the Moyzes String Quartet. Woodwind Chamber Music was recorded in Italy. “Sonus” for timpani and piano or chamber orchestra and the “Divertimento” are published.
