It's somewhat surprising that 2007's I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS is the first holiday album the Isley Brothers have released in their fifty plus year career. Those who have waited, patiently as children for Christmas morning, will get their gift with this 10-song disc that mixes traditional fare, contemporary holiday standards, and originals. As always, the Brothers' singing is heart-melting, and when Ron and company interpret favorites like "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Silent Night" it makes for a beautiful, soulful holiday listen. The Isley Brothers' I'll Be Home for Christmas, like Patti LaBelle's Miss Patti's Christmas, was released on Def Soul Classics and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The two albums are both ten songs in length, feature many of the same musicians, and are based mostly on interpretations -- so they go hand-in-hand, whether the intention was there or not. Sleigh bells excepted, "I'm in Love" could be mistaken for an Isley Brothers song on a normal studio album, and it sounds like it wants to break into "Harvest for the World." The other original, "What Can I Buy You," won't be threatening to replace regularly played Christmas classics anytime soon, but it doesn't seem to out of place next to the likes of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Winter Wonderland." There's a good balance between secular and spiritual material, so the disc should appeal to just about any Isley Brothers fan who doesn't want to hear the same tired holiday music year in, year out. ~ Andy Kellman I'll Be Home For Christmas Music Ron Isley I'll Be Home For Christmas Songs | 1. | Silent Night | |

Personnel: Kyle Bolden (guitar); William Wesson, Ken Townsend (keyboards); Brandon Brown (bass guitar). Additional personnel: William Wesson, Pimp C, Three 6 Mafia. Three 6 Mafia affiliate Project Pat is back with another thorough effort of choppy quintessential Tennessee gangsta. WALKIN' BANK ROLL, his sixth official solo release and first on Koch, sees Pat talkin' tough with clever metaphors from the gate. On the opening track, the Memphis mainstay explains "I'm a pure brick of blow/Do you understand me?/I'm a walkin' bank roll/You can rubberband me." Produced by Juicy J and DJ Paul, WALKIN' BANK ROLL features guest appearances by Pimp C, Willie Wesson, and Three 6 Mafia. Project Pat's Walkin' Bank Roll was released less than a year after his 2006 effort, Crook by da Book, but some major events occurred in that time. First, he starred alongside his Three 6 Mafia in the MTV reality television show Adventures in Hollyhood. Second of all, and more importantly, he left Sony Records after eight years on the label and switched to Koch. The indie label took advantage of his MTV exposure, promoted ...
