Purchase Renegade CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Erik Friedlander Quake CD (2003)
Renegade album
$15.59 On Quake, downtown cello boss Erik Friedlander teams up with Japan's fraternal rhythm section the Takeishi brothers (Stomu and Satoshi on bass and drums, respectively) as well as alto saxophonist Andy Laster for a date of intimate, knotty new jazz. In working with an electric bassist in this setting, the opportunities for unique tonalities are everywhere and are exploited to some degree as they were on an earlier work, The Watchman. Over the years, however, Friedlander has become a composer of interesting ensembles and Quake's is no exception. What is so remarkable about the performances ...

| | Dawn Humphrey Enjoy The Dance CD (2006)
Renegade music CDs
$9.85 Dawn Humphrey's second CD release, "Enjoy The Dance", is a simple self-produced, acoustic recording, much quieter than her first, with Celtic and Peidmont Blues influences. It is filled with great songs, both timely and topical, and sweet and personal. Along with 12 new original songs, Humphrey has also included a traditional gospel song, an Irish song, previously recorded by Sinead O'Connor, and a Led Zeppelin song.Dawn's big, bluesy, sometimes sweet vocals and solid guitar work are enhanced with rich harmony vocals and percussion from members of her acoustic Celtic Blues ensemble, Sidhe, (pronounced "She"). Dawn gets together with Sidhe members to perform at parties, festivals, and holiday events, but plays most of her gigs solo these days. With the release of her first CD, "You Don't Have To Wait Until Heaven", six years after first picking up the guitar, Dawn left social work to have more time for making music, and had her first and only child, Jed. Dawn remains part time in the helping professions, so she can stay connected to her other passion, teaching people with developmental disabilities, and helping them to become more independent. The cover art on "Enjoy The Dance" ...

| | American Babies CD (2008) Digipak
Renegade music CDs
$12.95 American Babies is, in effect, the group name for Philadelphia singer/songwriter/guitarist Tom Hamilton, who is joined on the band's self-titled debut album by the rhythm section of his bass-playing brother Jim Hamilton and drummer Joe Russo, along with a bevy of guests who sing along and play keyboards, cello, violin, and lap steel guitar. Hamilton favors country-flavored folk-rock arrangements, many of them taken at relaxed, even languorous tempos, over which he sings of the vagaries of love. The deliberate pacing often recalls Cowboy Junkies, and Hamilton's lyric subjects, written in the first person to a "you" with whom the "I" always seems to be romantically involved, tend toward the melancholy. But he rarely gets as depressed as Cowboy Junkies, even when he's ...
