The first band signed to Broken Social Scene's Arts and Crafts label that shares no members with that collective, the Most Serene Republic returns with their second album over three years after their 2004 debut, UNDERWATER CINEMATOGRAPHER. In keeping with their name, this Canadian band maintains a sense of tranquility and calm with a blend of jazzy post-rock ("A Mix of Sun and Cloud") and more urgent indie pop ("Sherry and Her Butterfly Net"). Horns and violin color the imaginative arrangements underneath the strong vocals of singers Adrian Jewitt and Emma Ditchburn.

Population album
$10.29 Among the scariest movies ever put on celluloid, like its similarly styled sister, RINGU, this tale of death-by-curse is nothing short of blood chilling. With chapters named after each subsequent victim, it plays like a series of increasingly daunting, deadly vignettes. All of the stories surround a haunted house where the evil spirit of a 5-year-old boy still lurks. The first to enter the residence and be cursed is a young ...

Population music CDs
$10.09 The Appleseed Cast has a sound that you might have a hard time categorizing until you hear someone use the phrase "Midwest post-rock." Then it becomes obvious that that's exactly what they sound like, even if the term itself is really kind of baffling. You have to hear it to understand: the Appleseed Cast's sound is often noisy, but is never just noise; they experiment with weird and unusual production approaches, but you wouldn't call them avant-garde. ...
| | Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Letting Go CD (2006)
Population songs
$12.69 Like 2003's MASTER AND EVERYONE, THE LETTING GO is a quiet, introspective record that examines the human heart, but the songs here equal or better those on its excellent predecessor. Oldham's insight into the politics of self and relationships is unflinching, and his wordplay--which balances surreal poetry with heartbreaking confessionals--is at its peak. Sonically, THE LETTING GO is expansive, adding ...

| | Alias Feel The Heat CD (2008)
Population CD music
$9.85 Alias has created a buzz with the release of his debut album 'Feel the Heat' (January 2009). The album brings a lot of energy with its Southern feel, but with a Northwest stamp. Big beats, club presence, and a fresh perspective it is sure to turn heads and make people recognize there is a new up and coming movement in music. This album has a commercial appeal without the sold-out feeling. The album was written and recorded at Intrinsic Studios, where Alias knows how to bring a song from concept to finish. It is evident that he has studio experience, and the knowledge and understanding of how to get great recordings. Alias is a confident performer, with experience including opening up for G-Unit's Young Buck. His most recent show was opening up for Down aka Kilo with the billboard hit 'Lean like a Cholo'. His stage presence and performances are usually recognized by other artists and promoters as being what other artists strive toward. As CEO of Intrinsic Studios and member of the Filthy Northwest Connection (FNC), he is on a mission to put Northwest hip hop and rap back on the charts- and on the map permanently. Alias has a project management background to finish an album on schedule and on budget with a commercial appeal. Addicted to hip-hop and rap from an early age, Alias started programming drum machines in middle school and working with local rappers. Realizing that making it in the music industry was next to impossible, he focused his competitive edge in sports. As a young adult, Alias entered the United States Navy. While ...
