Rawhide - Second Season Vol. 1 & 2 DVD

 Very good! Wonferful! Great!
I have been waiting for this for a long time, and the wait was worth it! Excellent stories, acting and rugged scenery, and a good sampling of character actors and stars from the late '50's. Quality of film: Beautiful! It's fun to see Clint Eastwood as the eager-to-please and anxious-to-learn understudy "trail boss"(he does it very well). To my delight, I have grown to love Eric Fleming's portrayal of Gil Favor, and this admiration for Eric is bittersweet, knowing that he accidentally drowned (in real life) 7 years later, at a young age. Sheb Wooley (as Pete Nolan) was the one who sang "Purple People Eater" on the radio (a mega-hit at the time), and I would have never guessed that the handsome and rugged Wooley would be the same fellow that sang a "novelty" song on the Top 40! At first I didn't much care for Wishbone (Paul Brinegar) because of his cantankerous demeanor, but even he is perfect: cooking for the drovers but never being fully appreciated. What more can I say? If you loved "Rawhide" during its run, you MUST buy this and subsequent sets. If you like westerns for their "morality plays" of good triumphing over evil and hard work and honor as traits to be admired, you MUST buy this series. You won't regret it!

 Rawhide : Worth Waiting For
I am really pleased with my purchase of the first series of Rawhide on DVD. All episodes are of the highest quality reproduction and it was well worth waiting such a long time for them to be issued. I can now enjoy watching my all-time favorite western series when I wish. I cannot wait for further series to be issued.
