In Times Like These album
$6.79 In 1973, the members of Mott the Hoople were tired. Island Records had dropped the band after three albums, as sales were low and audience interest was almost non-existent. But the band had a famous fan in David Bowie, who offered to write them one single to give them a leg up. That single was the chart-topping "All the Young Dudes," a glitter-era wink-wink celebration of male bonding that name-checked chart-toppers T. Rex and repositioned the once-laddish band as glammy, androgynous scenesters. Obviously, an album was called for.
Produced by Bowie and opening with a smoking cover of "Sweet ...

In Times Like These CD music
$25.29 Arlo Guthrie was born with a guitar in one hand and a harmonica in the other, in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York in 1947. He is the eldest son of America's most beloved singer/writer/philosopher Woody Guthrie and Marjorie Mazia Guthrie, a professional dancer with the Martha Graham Company and founder of The Committee to Combat Huntington's Disease. He grew up surrounded by dancers and musicians: Pete Seeger, Ronnie Gilbert, Fred Hellerman and Lee Hays (The Weavers), Leadbelly, Cisco Houston, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee, all of whom were significant influences on Arlo's musical career. Guthrie gave his first public performance at age 13 and quickly became involved in the music that was shaping the world during the 1960s. Arlo practically lived in the most famous venues of the "Folk Boom" era. In New York City he hung out at Gerdes Folk City, The Gaslight and The Bitter End. In Boston's Club 47, and in Philadelphia he made places like The 2nd Fret and The Main Point his home. He witnessed the transition from an earlier generation of ballad singers like Richard Dyer-Bennet and blues-men like Mississippi John Hurt, to a new era of singer-song writers such as Bob Dylan, Jim Croce, Joan Baez, and Phil Ochs. He grooved ...

| | Johnny Winter Live Bootleg Series, Vol.5 CD (2009) Remastered
In Times Like These CD music
$12.55 The keyword in this Johnny Winter archival series is "bootleg." This fifth volume feels more like a bottom-of-the-barrel scrape than anything that flatters or enhances Winter's reputation as an electric blues innovator. The material is from the late '80s or early '90s except for "Talk Is Cheap," which he cut early on. The sound quality is pure audience with limited fidelity -- you can hear the man's guitar and you can hear a bassline, and that's about it -- and his singing, when you can behold it clearly, is atrociously bad. ...

In Times Like These songs
$17.09 Anne Price and Marilyn Maltzer were singing partners from 1979 until Marilyn's death in 1994. Orginally recorded in 1989 for a cassette, Anne Price has now made this special album available for the first time on CD. Anne and Marilyn met at a New York Pinewoods Folk Music Club weekend and it was instant musical magic. The harmonies seemed to happen almost by themselves, and the blend of voices was perfect. They shared a love of traditional and contemporary folk songs of many varieties - Appalachian ballads, Irish and Scottish songs, Country songs, songs of the sea, cowboy songs, songs of love and overcoming adversity. This album includes a song each from songwriters Bill Staines, Rod MacDonald, Jean Ritchie, and Tom Paxton, two traditional Scottish ballads, an American traditional song, a French Canadian song, a country song from the early repertoire of Tanya Tucker and two other country songs, and a song written by Marilyn. Marilyn Maltzer lived in New York City, and later in Montclair New Jersey. Anne Price lives ...
