| | Polysics Or Die!!!! Vista CD Polysics Discography of CDs
Strangely, Polysics or Die!!!! Vista varies drastically from Polysics' earlier greatest-hits record, Polysics or Die!!! Only six songs from the previous disc make the cut of the new MySpace Records release, further proving that choosing a list of Polysics' best singles is no easy task. That said, this compilation seems to be better thought out and serves as an excellent introduction to the poppier side of the band, despite the omission of some of their finest songs, most notably "XCT" from Neu. This disc may also be the only chance for fans outside of Japan to get the new songs "Electric Surfing," "I My Me Mine," "You-You-You," and "Catch on Everywhere" unless they were to buy Karate House as an import. For newbies wishing to learn about the group's sound, this is the perfect starting point, but it barely scratches the surface of their ten years of material. ~ Jason Lymangrover
The band pulls their best tracks from their previous releases, as well as new tracks from their current, Japan only release, Karate House. This package includes a CD album and a companion DVD including 4 of their most popular music videos and 3 live performance tracks pulled from some of their countless sold-out shows in Japan.

Purchase Polysics Or Die!!!! Vista CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Mindless Self Indulgence Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy CD (1999)
Polysics Or Die!!!! Vista album
$10.39 Principally recorded at The Theater Studio & Mindswerve, New York, New York.
Mindless Self Indulgence's brilliantly named The Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy collects more of the group's outré, hip-hop-tinged industrial thrash. Singer Urine's bizarre falsetto sounds like a sped-up Jello Biafra, especially on tracks like "Boomin'" and "I Hate Jimmy Page." The album's 30 songs -- which sport titles like "Dicks Are for My Friends," "Cocaine and Toupees," "Faggot," and "Royally Fucked" -- are all pretty much slight variations on the group's fast-and-shocking style. Though The Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy doesn't quite deliver on the sleazy humor of its title, Mindless Self Indulgence does provide a quick, sensationalistic fix for fans of groups like Insane Clown Posse or A.C. ~ Heather Phares

| | NOFX 45 Or 46 Songs That Weren't Good Enough To Go On Our Other Records CDs (2002)
Polysics Or Die!!!! Vista songs
$9.79 This is a collection of NOFX tracks from various compilations, 7"s and EPs, plus a previously unreleased song and dub remix.
NOFX are masters of the punk ethic of self-deprecation, and it begs the question if they truly realize the mark they have made on the history of modern hardcore. After 18 years, the band that sums up its musical prowess humbly as "good," releases a staggering collection of B-sides, compilation tracks, and rare cuts (many of which were previously long out-of-print in their original 7" pressings).
A cover of the Seymour Simons standard "All Of Me" sets the tone for this collection, and boasts an attitude that really says it all; this band lives for doing things their way. It's easy to see how a song such as "Lazy" could have spawned many of the late-'90s neo-ska bands. MXPX also sneaks in a ska treatment of the song made famous by Metallica, "Last Caress." Well worth it for the expansive liner notes penned by Fat Mike alone, 45 OR 46 SONGS is a must-have for true punks who know NOFX to be one of the top acts of their genre.

| | Easy Star All-Stars Dub Side Of The Moon CD (2003)
Polysics Or Die!!!! Vista album
$10.99 The pun in the title gives the album's conceit away: This is, in fact, a dub-influenced take on Pink Floyd's classic DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. But while the idea may be groan-inducing, the results are actually quite appealing. All-Star founders Michael G. and Ticklah recruit a handful of guests, including Corey Harris, the Meditations, and Frankie Paul, among others, to turn Floyd's spacey, art-rock epic into a heavy-lidded roots excursion, incorporating rap, dancehall, IDM, and jungle rhythms. The deeply ingrained familiarity of the original creates a fine palette for the All-Stars' Jamaican coloring, resulting in a surprisingly successful synthesis.
Recorded at Noise NY, Mount Vernon, New York; Mike Stand Killer Studios, Funky Slip Studios and Zion Studios Brooklyn, New York; 401 Studios and Hot Sound, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Lem Oppenheimer.
Easy Star All Stars: Corey Harris, Frankie Paul, Gary "Nesta" Pine, Dr. Israel, Ranking Joe (vocals); Michael Goldwasser (guitar); Victor Axelrod (melodica, piano, electric piano, Clavinet, synthesizer, percussion); Victor Rice (electric bass, upright bass); Patrick Dougher (drums).
Additional personnel: Jenny Hill (saxophone); Michael Wagner (trombone); Wayne Wiggum (electric bass); Eddie Ocampo, Larry McDonald (percussion); Tamar-Kali (background vocals).

| | Joe Bonamassa Had To Cry Today CD (2004)
Polysics Or Die!!!! Vista CD music
$13.79 Blues-rock guitar wizard Joe Bonamassa can make a set of electric six-strings burn and wail, but like many such guitarists, he still requires focus for it to be truly special. Such intense focus is a hallmark of HAD TO CRY TODAY. While some guitarists squander notes, Bonamassa makes each one count whether he's engaging in country-flavored picking (the late, great Danny Gatton was clearly an influence), blistering rock-edged blues, or turbulent, inspired jamming. TODAY delivers on Bonamassa's previous promise in a big way.
Personnel: Joe Bonamassa (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Jon Paris (harmonica); Benny Harrison (Hammond b-3 organ); Eric Czar (bass guitar); Kenny Kramme (drums, percussion).

$9.09 Sara Paxton may not be a household name yet, but mention the name Darcy Fields to anyone under the age of 14 and you're likely to get an earful. For those in the know, Darcy's Wild Life follows a rich and precocious Hollywood teen who moves to the country with her movie star mother to learn how to farm and "get real." The hit Discovery Channel dramedy has spawned a soundtrack, and with multi-million-dollar production team the Matrix on board, Paxton seems poised to follow in the footsteps of former teen queens Avril Lavigne and Hilary Duff. While Darcy's Wild Life relies heavily on Jackson 5 knockoffs like Nicholas Jonas' "Crazy Kinda Crush On You" and American Juniors' amped-up remake of "ABC," Paxton's rousing "Take a Walk" and folksy "There for You" are the obvious stars. Sandwiched between forgettable remakes of "Walking On Sunshine" and oddities like "Monkey Man" by the Specials, both feature confident vocals and an instantly likable naïveté that will serve her well in future endeavors. ~ James Christopher Monger
Liner Note Authors: Stan Rogow; Sara Paxton.
Recording information: Decoy Studios, Studio City, CA; Paramount Studios, North Hollywood, CA.
Arrangers: The Matrix ; Mike Rose.
Personnel: Corky James (guitar); Victor Indrizzo (drums).

| | Tavson Brothers Time Changes Everything CD (2004)
Polysics Or Die!!!! Vista album
$16.45 Trent is from western Canada, and is a really good songwriter. And luckily for both of them, his younger brother Troy -- who lives in Nashville -- just happens to be an excellent singer. Together, they form the core of the Tavson Brothers Band. (Theirs is a true stranger-than-fiction, separated-at-birth story !) One of the things I enjoy about Trent's stuff is that while it's catchy, radio-friendly and full of strong, memorable hooks, there's usually something different and interesting happening melodically and/or rhythmically in his songs. From a producer's standpoint, working on his songs is very satisfying, because they don't all sound the same, and there are several directions in which you can go. - Steve Haggard Trent writes: I had never heard of the 'other Haggard' (Steve) until I pitched him a song for Bill Clark, who he was producing. Bill recorded the song, and I instantly took a liking to Steve because of his great sense for good music regardless if it was in or out of "the box"... I eventually decided to do several songs with Steve to try him out. In the end, my brother Troy and I ended up recording 14 songs over a ½ year period because of Steve's awesome talent as a producer. The results were all radio-quality, and I'm getting ready to do even more songs this March (2004)... Steve has a natural ability to breathe magic into the music that he is presented with, creating great songs and still being true to the original version. His attention to detail and his genuine interest in good music instead of just whether a song fits the current mold, is an inspiration. I am a big fan of Steve's... You'll be able to hear his genius on our new Tavson Brothers Band CD, "Time Changes Everything". Steve, his lovely wife Gail, and the rest of the Wild Oats Records crew/musicians made me feel at home in Nashville, and produced a radio-quality recording which I'll always be proud to be a part of.

| | Verve Pipe Super Hits CD (2007)
Polysics Or Die!!!! Vista music CDs
$6.99 The Verve Pipe were one of the handful of post-grunge bands that had a hit in the mid- to late '90s that was ubiquitous, and then had the bottom suddenly fall out from underneath them. That hit, of course, was "The Freshmen," a pained, earnest mid-tempo dissection of a relationship gone wrong that the band's lead singer/songwriter, Brian Vander Ark, wrote years before the Verve Pipe had formed. Starting as an acoustic ballad, by the time it turned into a radio hit it was given a brooding sensibility, heavy on heavy guitars and echo, that didn't just fit into the post-Nirvana landscape of '90s modern rock, it epitomized how alternative rock was no longer underground -- it was a commercial juggernaut. If the Verve Pipe never had another hit to match "The Freshmen," it was not for lack of trying, nor was it for lack of material -- as their first hits compilation, Platinum & Gold Collection (re-packaged in 2007 as Super Hits) proves, they had similarly hooky material that fit well into mainstream alt-rock radio. And they did have other hits, like "Photograph," "Villains," and "Hero," but while sturdy, none of them became a touchstone like "The Freshmen" since they had neither the immediate hook nor the universal subject matter of that single. The Verve Pipe might have been able to retain a small cult if their second major-label album, an eponymous 1999 effort helmed by superstar producer Michael Beinhorn, didn't tank, bringing their career down with it; by the time they released their very good, Adam Schlesinger-produced 2001 album Underneath, they were already considered a footnote to the alt-rock era. While they were by no means trendsetters, they were a solid, reliable band, and this compilation proves that out. This naturally relies very heavily on their one big LP, 1996's Villains, with three tracks apiece from Verve Pipe and Underneath and a live version of the Pop Smear favorite "Spoonful of Sugar" added as a closing cut. It's an excellent summary of their three-album stint with RCA, and while this music is emblematic of its time, it does prove that of the one-hit post-grunge wonders of the second half of the '90s, the Verve Pipe had one of the most consistent bodies of work. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Polysics Or Die!!!! Vista songs
$8.29 Matt Valentine and Erika Elder had been stitching together post-hippie flameout folk-rock for the better part of a decade in various permutations before delivering this wholly original and thrilling vision of American rock. MV & EE take their tried-and-true formula of male/female dynamics and upstate vibe to a set of crunchy rural grunge knock-outs that recall Dead Moon, Royal Trux, and Crazy Horse at their most gloriously plodding. A lot of bands attempt this golden and wasted sound, but only a handful have it mastered like these guys. GETTIN' GONE features J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. on drums.
