If your first reaction on hearing about a musical called Urinetown is that that's an awful title, don't worry, the authors are way ahead of you. Its awfulness is the point, and Urinetown is as much a musical about a musical as it is, well, a musical. The opening song, for example, is called "Too Much Exposition," and in ...

| | Deosil Automatic Music CD (2006)
Joanna Ampil Soundtrack
$13.15 Deosil returns with another ambient music project. His new album entitled "Automatic Music" is based on the concept of automatic writing which means to write or create based on divine intervention - channeling, if you will. The songs contained on this album explore the depths of sonic ambience he is willing to take the listener through. Each track tells its own story and is connected through one another. The first track begins with an incredible recording of waves crashing in the North Sea combined with ambient/spatial electronic sounds. From then on Dylan continues to explore the sonic landscape and gives the listener a chance to breathe (or meditate) after each song. Just like his first album "Beyond This Plane Of Existence", released on his own in August of 2005, he draws much of his inspiration from nature and uses his recording and editing tools to manipulate the original sound into a something deeper and more spatial. Rustic, natural sounds are combined with electronic ambient noises, synths, piano, spanish style guitars, and very ethereal melodies. All these tracks seem to create endless possibilities of sound. For Dylan, "Automatic Music" is quite a step up from his first project - a project that took more than a year to create. The original concept of "Beyond" was just a 20 minute meditational piece written for a friend that grew into 8 more tracks (and an additional 55 minutes) and proved that he could write other styles such as trance dance, ambient, and down-tempo. "Automatic Music" continues where "Beyond" left off but musical growth can come from personal growth as well. Learning more about Chakra energy, spiritual healing through sound, and meditational practices, Dylan has applied those things to the music by channeling each song that tunes to a specific tone. Using his own home studio and an incredible array of instruments and computer aided synth sounds, Dylan combines the electronic and acoustic seamlessly by using digital editing with analog recording techniques. It's not a new technique, but Dylan adds his own flair to this style of music. Having spent 8 1/2 years ...
