E2 Music Review Average Rating: (1 out of 5 stars) Poor effort from Eros I was expecting so much more from this double album. I am a huge Eros fan and own all of his albums, but I am hugely disappointed with this one. The CD is really a story with 2 parts. Part one is CD 1 which has a collection of remastered songs and 4 new tracks. If you like Ricky Martin, you'll love the first track; if you don't, it's forgetble. Of the three other new songs, Ci Parliami Da Grandi is an outstanding track and shows Eros at his best. The other two new tracks are also very nice. The "supposedly" remastered tracks offer nothing new to devoted Eros listeners. Some of the tracks from the most recent Eros albums (Calma Apparente, Stile Libero, and 9) can hardly be called remastered. Also included in the annoying (in my opinion) duo with Tina Turner on Cose Della Vita.
Part two is CD 2 which contains duets with other artists, and songs recorded with the London Session Orchestra. The songs with the orchestra are reduced to movie background music, while the songs recoreded with other artists are more annoying than original. The worst of these is the hip-hop re-make of Aurora, where some DJ can't pronouce Eros' name, instead proclaiming at the beginning of the track that "EEROS IS IN THE HOUSE!" (and I didn't mispell EEROS); this is absolutely disgraceful that Eros would allow this beautiful ballad to be destroyed. As for the other tracks, if you have CDs from Stevie Vai, Carlos Santana, Take 6, Rythm Del Mundo, The Chieftains, John Spencer, and Amaia (who?), then you'll like the second CD. Obviously Eros has caught the same sickness as Zucchero. In closing, I will say that this album should only be for the devoted Eros listeners who own most of his album. For new listeners, this "compilation" will not give due justice to the talent of Eros Ramazzoti. If only this album had all of the original versions, plus the new songs (minus the duet with Ricky Martin), this would have been an outstanding collection; unfortuntaley, it is not. Ciao. $12.15 Dorado : Golden.Dorado is a groove-based rock band from Portland, Oregon comprised of Sky Cooper (guitar, vocals), Johnny G (bass), Steve Ellingson (keys), and Terry Cason (drums).According to founder Sky Cooper, the creation of the band was a slow evolution. “I’ve had the project going for 5 years.,” he said. “It’s only since this lineup has solidified that the real nature of the beast has manifested itself as a kind of an Hip-Hop flavored rhythm section with a rock frosting.” From its early days with New York session drummer Joe Trump and Minneapolis bass player Keith Watson, Dorado has been taking its lifeblood from the rhythm section. “I admire good pop songs, and hooks and all that, but if I can’t move to it, it’s not totally grabbing me,” said Cooper. “The reverse can be said about the jam band circuit; there are a lot of killer musicians out there that I admire, taking solos for 20 minutes on solid grooves, but there isn’t any compelling lyric or structure to bring it together.”Cooper is an Australian ex-patriot who studied with music legend Yusef Lateef at Elliott Smith’s alma mater, Hampshire College. He then spent three years traveling between continents, couch surfing at friend’s places. This long stint of homelessness sated some of Sky’s wanderlust, but starting a working band remained elusive. Just before 9/11 he was in northern Queensland [Australia] playing bluegrass covers at an outback pub with an 80-year-old bass player and getting heckled by the crowd for his American accent. “Things weren’t going exactly ...
