| | Bryan Brown Sing CD (2004)
Scare Tactics songs
$15.19 Bryan draws you in. Whether you are having a conversation with him, or being led into the presence of God by him, there is no resisting. He himself is caught up in God and before you know it, you are there with him, declaring with him in some fashion, his favorite refrain. "Your lovingkindness is better than life." (Psalm 63:3) Bryan's humble manner and acknowledged need for God throw down a red carpet to lead you into the throne room experience of his songs. Bryan experienced a spiritual awakening at age 18 that transformed his Christian experience from obligatory church attendance to fiery passion for a huge God. Bryan says he has been most inspired by the radical commitment of Keith Green, the humble, broken spirit and music of Matt Redman, the "big picture" of God painted by John Piper and the sense of connection to something larger than self that is evoked by artists such The Beatles and U2. Bryan wants to see. "I see the Lord high and lifted up... I see the Son with fire in His eyes." (from With the Angels) He is going somewhere. "Your song beckons me and fills my heart. Your love washes over me and your mercy sets me free to worship you." (from One I Love) As you listen to his music, as you enter into worship, he will take you with him. Bryan currently serves as a worship leader at his home church, The Crossing, in Columbia, Missouri. He grew up playing guitar and piano, and has been a part of worship teams and led worship in several church settings in the Midwest. His approach to leading worship is to be a worshipper himself. "I try to see God and pray for His grace to allow me to sing and to have my heart line up with what I am singing. I want people to see God, not look at words on a screen or hear music, but see God and be overwhelmed ...
| | Flavor Secret Solution CD (2004)
Scare Tactics album
$10.09 While doomsayers lay dying in wait for the next 15-minute imposters to affirm their worst fears about rock-n-roll's imminent demise, Minnesota's FLAVOR are daring to spread hope among the masses. Hitting countless venues throughout the upper-Midwest, they're taking audiences on a crusade far beyond the clichéd confines of reality TV culture, yet are still managing to clock in infectious, hook-heavy songs at a tidy three-and-a-half minutes. It's the kind of song craft that's led Minneapolis' No Alternative Records to proclaim, "FLAVOR proves that the Twin Cities can produce artists beyond its already clever pop heritage."For their countless fans, the leap of faith is really no big trick - FLAVOR's fresh, dynamic sound melds a perfect-pop combination of both brains and balls. But the cuts are courageously deep, fusing whip-smart, lovesexy lyrics with modern guitar-rock bravado and a super-tight spin on the streamlined grooves of old school funk, R&B and soul. They've been compared variously to Jeff Buckley, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Maroon 5, and Prince, but with their Latin flair and knack for stylish jazz harmonies, the St. Paul Pioneer Press also hails them as, "a pleasant yet subtle divergence from much of the rock music that's out there."That mix of genre-bending approach and universal appeal has found them opening for acts as wide-ranging as Edwin McCain, Jonny Lang, Dada, The Nadas, Little Feat and Joe Firstman, and their blistering live show has been garnering devotees at theaters, clubs, festivals and college campuses alike. They've racked up numerous accolades as well, being granted Best Rock Album (for their 2003 release, "Red") and Best Rock Band nomination by the Minnesota Music Awards (MMA), in addition to a 2002 MMA nomination for Best New Band. That year also saw them snagging a NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences) award, Jim Beam's "Band of the Week," and winning Minnesota's KQRS "Homegrown" contest. Beneath the impressive luster, FLAVOR's power-packed songcraft suggests years of introspection, exploration and fine-tuning. ...
| | Chambers Brothers Feelin' The Blues CD (1970)
Scare Tactics CD music
$10.29 Musical siblings George Chambers (bass/vocals), Willie Chambers (guitar/vocals), Lester Chambers (harmonica/vocals), and Joe Chambers (guitar/vocals) were raised on rural gospel in their native Mississippi before switching over to folk and then soulful blues and R&B-fueled rock. The Chambers Brothers' recordings issued by the Los Angeles-based Vault label were nearly four years old when Feelin' the Blues hit the streets in 1970. The band's style had changed quite drastically from old-school blues, soul, and pop to the longer psychedelic jams heard on their international hit "Time Has Come Today." Although the mixture of live and studio selections gives the collection an odds-and-sods vibe, several of the performances are among the best of the Vault Records-era material. Somewhat contrasting with the album's title, the Chambers actually cover a wide spectrum of music on Feelin' the Blues. Their roots can ...
