LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy was commissioned by Nike to write "45:33:00" as a piece of exercise music for part of their Original Run series. Murphy composed the track as a continuous piece tailored to the length and variation of a standard workout. In addition to its novelty as a concept, "45:33:00" is a brilliantly arranged and compulsively listenable track spilling over with the burbling, kinetic energy and gleaming production flourishes typical of LCD Soundsystem's work.
Originally available only as an iTunes exclusive, the track was released on CD in late 2007. Complex, fun, and meticulously put together, "45:33:00" sounds even better pumping from a home stereo than it does through an iPod while jogging. Three bonus tracks, previously unavailable in the U.S., round out the package, and make it a must for LCD Soundsystem fans.

Entertainment Weekly (p.106) - "45:33 deftly segues from the smooth funk favored by Levan to synth pop and Talking Heads-style polyrhythms before opening into serious space-party territory." -- Grade: A Uncut (p.115) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "[T]his euphoric, largely electronic set finds Murphy adapting DJ dynamics for the running machine." Alternative Press (p.136) - 4.5 stars out of 5 -- "[T]he album is meticulously orchestrated for aerobic activities, displaying LCD maestro James Murphy's deft arranging skills and sense of dynamics." The Wire (p.66) - "It kranks up like an early Kraftwerk album....Juddering, silvery motifs of neo-disco fly back through the mix like glitterball fragments." 45:33:00 Music | List Price | $15.98 (You save $3.23) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, R&B CDs, Dance, Rock | | Label | DFA | | Orig Year | 2006 | | All Time Sales Rank | 41339 | | CD Universe Part number | 7514411 | | Catalog number | 2163 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Nov 13, 2007 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Producer | Eric Broucek; Eric Broucek | | Recording Time | 71 minutes | | Personnel | James Murphy - vocals, electric guitar, Clavinet, synthesizer, Moog synthesizer, vocoder, bass guitar, drums, hand claps, percussion, sampler, background vocals Terra Deva Alex Frankel - Wurlitzer organ Eric Broucek - synthesizer, sampler Nancy Whang - vocals

45:33:00
$10.79 On this immensely appealing debut, SILENT ALARM, the London-based quartet Bloc Party fulfills the promise of their barnstorming 2004 singles "Banquet" and "She's Hearing Voices." Led by magnetic frontman Kele Okereke, the band extracts the most fascinating aspects of the previous 25 years of British indie rock and fuses them into a new entity--complete with smarts and heart--never delving into retro-kitsch or slavish imitation.
Okerere's urgent yelp most often recalls a fired-up incarnation of the Cure's Robert Smith, but the sounds the group creates ...

| | Lcd Soundsystem Sound Of Silver CD (2007)
45:33:00
$8.85 As wryly noted on LCD Soundsystem's debut 2002 single, "Losing My Edge," in the underground music arms race, aging hipsters are losing ground against young upstarts who are (perhaps) unaware of their own influences. And if influences are the stuff with which post-millennial musicians are made, Murphy has trumped us all. Touching on reference points ranging from disco, krautrock, Bowie, house, and post-punk, to singer-songwriter types, SOUND OF SILVER is a veritable catalog of left-field cool. Leading off with the slow-boil, hypnotic opener, "Get Innocuous"--which sounds a bit like a reprise of "Losing My Edge" crossed with Kraftwerk's "The Robots"--the album moves from dance-floor stormers to plaintive piano numbers without batting an eye. ...
| | Radiohead Com Lag (2plus2isfive) CD (2004) Digipak; Extended Play
45:33:00
$11.35 Useful only to the most devoted Radiohead followers (who will probably have most of the contents to begin with), Com Lag is a patchwork of live material, remixes, B-sides, and other assorted scraps. Naturally, the release isn't nearly as cohesive as Hail to the Thief; its apparent intent is to supply the fans with another stream of the band's recordings, regardless of both how they fit together and how mixed the tracks are to begin with. The B-sides aren't nearly as solid as the ones collected on the Airbag/How Am I Driving EP, not to mention most of the intervening extras that trickled out between that release and this one -- though the live, solo ...
| | Danny Kirwan Second Chapter CD (1975) With Book; Limited Edition; Digipak
45:33:00
$19.79 The first solo album from Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter Daniel David Kirwan has the future producer for Human League and Buzzcocks, Martin Rushent, utilizing those skills here, as well as engineering. The sound is crystal clear, and a feather in the cap for Rushent as well as Kirwan. It starts off with an uncharacteristic "Ram Jam City," which has more Lindsey Buckingham sounds than one would expect, especially since the two guitarists come from two different musical worlds. "Odds and Ends" is more lighthearted, the kind of music Paul McCartney toyed with on The White Album's "Rocky Raccoon." What Second Chapter immediately sets forth is the importance of Kirwan as a pop artist, and how, despite Fleetwood Mac's success after he left, his sounds could ...

45:33:00
$14.79 "I haven't heard any other Dutch act produce such an energetic performance on record so far this year." (stayfun.co.uk) "Blues Brother Castro knows how to evoke that indefinable, yet essential element that pop music needs: Excitement!" (OOR). "The band scene in Amsterdam is on the rise and Blues Brother Castro is one of the strongest arguments to prove that statement." (Volkskrant). "BBC are amongst the top bands in the country, that could put Holland back on the map of the international music scene!". (Musicfrom.nl)Tjeerd Meindersma and Leon Caren were already playing music together in high-school: So when the two friends both moved to Amsterdam in their student years, and ended up in the same house, starting a band was an easy step to take. After working with several musicians, the perfect format was found in 2003, as they teamed up with bass player Mila van de Wall and drummer Hajo de Reijger: During this time Blues Brother Castro was formed. From this time on, things went fast for the foursome. Their self-released EP Flirt was greeted with great enthusiasm by both journalists and promoters. Their growing live-reputation got them doing an impressive amount of shows, including open-air festivals such as Parkpop, Metropolis and Werfpop and also their first appearance on the main stage of Amsterdam's famous rock-temple 'Paradiso'. The same year Blues Brother Castro organised a tour through Croatia, of which coverage was featured in the Dutch music magazine 'Fret'. Not bad for an unsigned band. After selling pretty much all copies of 'Flirt', ...
