Mothership album Product Description
Mothership album by Led Zeppelin was released Nov 13, 2007 on the Rhino (Label) label. Upon the release of MOTHERSHIP in 2007, almost three decades after their demise, Led Zeppelin arguably stood as the only other band in rock history to merit space with the Beatles in the greatest-of-all-time debate. Mothership songs While the latter practically invented the how-to guide for composing and recording modern pop, Zeppelin taught the machinery how to rock with a seismic bravado that decades latter still rattles foundations. Mothership album In the post-Zeppelin era, rock became a synonym for a heaviness intended to both inspire awe and knock you flat with its weight. Mothership CD music The first six Led Zeppelin records contain nary a less-than-stellar track and define perfection as a canon; yet adequately compiling bits and pieces of this remarkable run has always eluded the band. Though this collection is no substitute for the first six records, MOTHERSHIP succeeds as a greatest hits retrospective on two levels: one, as an introduction for neophytes who want all the band's signature songs, and two, as a sound upgrade for completists. Mothership CD music is a 2-disc set with 24 songs. ...See Full Description

| A grand Zeppelin A grand compilation of songs. The booklet was informative. Certainly a needed addition to people's libraries. By williamsiron (Snow Hill, MD, USA) |
| redundant... All right then: I know many of you are already sharpening your knives to go for my jugular after seeing my rating, demanding blood for the act of heresy of "trashing" the greatest band in the history of the universe. So once again, I'm compelled to post a disclaimer about my rating and my review, just so I can be at peace with MYSELF and to be PERFECTLY clear about things (and yet, I KNOW there are STILL gonna be people who will send me the usual death threats... oh well). I'll try to do this as short, quick and painless as I can (I'm sure you all have better things to do than to read a lot of pseudo-intellectual babble... )... Like removing a band aid! So here goes the disclaimer: I'm NOT a Zeppelin hater! I am NOT trashing the band! I am NOT trashing their music! Zeppelin rules! The band is awesome! The music is awesome! THIS compilation, however, is not. By ob1bertin (Costa Rica) |
| Very Good Condensed Collection I would've liked to see Dancing Days, Going to California, and Immigrant Song, but you can't please everyone with only 24 tracks from Led Zeppelin. All in all, this is a great collection from an iconic band. By Nathan (Chicago, IL, USA) |
| Is it just me........... I think it's time the music industry adopted some of the technology that Japan uses, meaning, go to the SHM(Super High Material) or Blu-Ray formats. I own the Japan Led Zeppelin Definitive Collection SHM-CD set. The sound quality is superb compared to the "Mothership" 2-CD set, which, in my honest opinion, sounds distorted on certain songs. Being a Led-Head myself, I own the 4-CD set, as well as the 10-CD Box set. While the sound quality is great on 4 & 10-CD sets, the SHM versions are great as far as sound quality(the set itself is out-of-print). Individual CD's from Japan, featuring the SHM format are still available. In order to hear the "sonic differences" of these CD's, try downloading the songs to your Ipod or MP3 player and you'll know what I'm talking about, provided you have a good ear for music. | Motherload Well, i thought the early and latter days releases had a cooler track listing but this is better compact with 2 discs sold together. Of course the track listing is missing this and that song and it is not a essential release if you have it all. I think buy the studio box set, the live albums, maybe the BBC release and your all set. If you don't want to buy all that than this would be fine enough. I think Zeppelin is sounds cooler when you play an entire album from begginning to end. By Zephead (zep, USA) |
