With the fall of Barksdale and the ascent of young Marlo Stanfield as West Baltimore's drug king, the detail continues to 'follow the money' up the political ladder in the midst of a mayoral election. The theme of urban education is explored through four new characters - Michael Lee, Namond Brice, Randy Wagstaff and 'Dukie' Weems as they traverse adolescence in the stunted, drug-saturated streets of West Baltimore. Acclaimed HBO series THE WIRE centers on the drug culture of inner-city Baltimore. The series' storyline unfolds from the viewpoints of both the criminals lording the streets and the police officers determined to bring them down. In the show's fourth season, which is included here in its entirety, four new characters--Dukie Weems, Randy Wagstaff, Michael Lee, and Namond Brice--are introduced to the gritty television drama. The plot in the fourth season mostly focuses on the eighth graders who try to survive the drug-laden streets of West Baltimore as the city's mayoral race enters its final stages. Clarence Royce, the black candidate, has a colossal lead over white councilman Tommy Carcetti, while Marlo Stanfield continues his ascension as Baltimore's new drug baron. Wire - The Complete Fourth Season Reviews: 5 stars out of 5 -- "THE WIRE's epic police drama continues to evolve with a scope, richness, complexity and ambition unrivalled by anything on the small screen."-- Jonathan Crocker, Total Film 5 stars out of 5 -- "[It's the] microscopic attention to detail, so perfectly executed, that raises it above every other cop show on television."-- James Dyer, Empire 5 stars out of 5 -- "Watch and learn indeed, this season is rightly an uncomfortable and sometimes tragic education."-- Simon Edwards, Ultimate DVD Wire - The Complete Fourth Season | List Price | $59.99 (You save $7.10) | | Studio | Warner Home Video | | Orig Year | 2006 | | All Time Sales Rank | 8979 | | CD Universe Part number | 7514673 | | Catalog number | 93927 | | Discs | 4 | | Release Date | Dec 04, 2007 | | Rating | Not Rated | | Running Time | 780 Minutes | | Additional Info | Full Frame; Subtitled | | Movie Details | Color; Full Frame; Subtitled |
Wire - The Complete Fourth Season Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) The Wire continues to amaze This is without doubt one of the finest American drama series ever made. This season extends the story between criminal fraternity and police with the added bonus of a host of new characters and a mayoral election. 13 episodes was just not enough and left me hungry for more. Words do not do this programme enough justice and I cannot recommend this series any higher. Watch it for yourself and get a feel for truly stunning American drama. 10 stars! One of the best Of all the series that have come to TV
this is by far one of the best there is. Not for young children. Quite graffic and to the point. The cast is
excellent. The topics are right on the
money. Portrays almost every large city
in America.The only problem is I see no
end in sight.No solution.

Beauty and Violent If America wants to know the state of our educational system, check season 4 of "The Wire". If you want to know why our children are struggling in education, politics, money, check these 12 gut-busting shows. My only compliant is David Simon was not given a sixth season. best drama on tv, well, almost since it beginnings four seasons' ago,
'the wire' has been a consistently excellent series. it's father was 'homocide:life on the street';
another excellent drama that ran on nbc from '93-'99.
this fourth season is the best so far, and it will be hard to beat.
by almost being the best drama on tv,
imo, it's only barely beaten by 'brotherhood'; showtime's awesome
series that just concluded it's second season.btw, with "brotherhood' and 'dexter', showtime has now passed
hbo in quality original dramas. Submitted by ed (liverpool, ny, usa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$52.89 The fifth and final season of THE WIRE excavates yet another layer of city life: the media. As budget cutbacks for both the police and the press threaten their public missions, they also gives rise to corruption. Show creator David Simon (a former Baltimore reporter himself) interweaves the story of a young journalist faking stories for the Baltimore Sun with that of Detective McNulty (Dominic West), who concocts a serial killer in order to funnel ...

$15.65 Based on the international bestseller by Khaled Hosseini, THE KITE RUNNER is a fascinating historical epic set in 20th-century Afghanistan. In 1978, Amir (Zekiria Ebrahimi) and Hassan (Ahmad Khan Mahmoodzada) are young boys living in Kabul, where Hassan and his father, Ali (Nabi Tanha), work as servants for Amir and his father, Baba (Homayoun Ershadi). Amir and Hassan make an excellent team in kite competitions, with Hassan having a gift for running down kites, but after one contest, he is bullied by Assef (Elham Ehsas), who does unspeakable things to him as Amir watches from a distance and then runs away, not helping his friend. As the Russians and then the Taliban take over Afghanistan, Baba and Amir escape ...

$15.15 Michael Radford (IL POSTINO) brings an artful touch to Edward Anderson's screenplay with FLAWLESS, a serious account of a remarkable heist at London Diamond, one of the world's premier diamond holders. Set in 1960s London, the film focuses on Laura Quinn (Demi Moore), a woman so driven she's chosen career over personal life and found her way into the boys' club known as the diamond business. As Laura gets overlooked for a manager position year after year, she resolves to work even harder, hoping that, despite her history, her efforts will one day pay off. Ironically, it's Mr. Hobbs (Michael Caine), a night janitor, who takes note of Laura's frustration. The seemingly simple Mr.Hobbs finds a way to use this to his advantage, proposing a plan that will only work with Laura's cooperation. When Laura rejects the offer, Mr. Hobbs encourages her to question just what's holding her back, personally and professionally. While Laura's precarious position within a male-dominated ...
