1967 Product Description
The clever retro packaging isn't a put-on: this truly is Broadway star Betty Buckley's debut album, as recorded (but never released) in 1967, when the young singer was a struggling youngster in her hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. In an amusing twist of fate, the album's producer was another struggling young Texan by the name of T-Bone Burnett. The 11 songs mix pop hits (including the Monkees' "I Wanna Be Free") and jazz standards, sung by Buckley in front of a piano-led small combo.
