| | Rockets Away Blast Off CD Rockets Away Discography of CDs
After being part of the new Jim Donovan movie '3 Saisons' (coming out this fall) and after winning the print of a single at the SMIQ's last edition, (both songs, 'California', and 'Stay Over Night' are available on their webpage myspace /rocketsaway) Rockets Away are ready, with their new 9 songs EP 'Blast Off!', to conquer Canada in august in company of Montreal's own punk legends Ripcordz. 26 concerts in 26 days, it's going to be one hell of a ride! By the way, their adventures filled with anthropological discoveries, dirty little secrets, humour for the initiate and disguised publicity with no relation with the truth will be available as a blog on bangbangtemort , web site of the new cultural French newspaper Bang Bang. Formed by Alexandre Gauthier, guitar and vocal (also bassist in the Ripcordz), the band really started to take form in September 2006 with the addition of Ryan Stick on bass and vocal (ex-Judgmental) and Marc-Andre Pilon on drums and vocals (ex-Ordures Ioniques, Les Saints), confirming their status as a new local 'All-Stars' group and becoming in the process the new power-pop-punk band on the rise that you will need to keep an eye on. To get acquainted with that wild bunch, don't miss their funny videos 'Rocket Files', available on their Myspace and YouTube. The Montreal record launch of their new EP 'Blast Off!', produced by Rene Garcia (The Brains, Gutter Demons, The Shifters), will be released at Cafe Campus on the 22th of September 2007 with Maximum Rock N' Roll. $13.15 I was born in February of 1952. My first memory of music was this old 78 rpm record that my parents had. On one side it had Gene Autry singing "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer". On the other side it had Guy Mitchell doing a song called "Singing The Blues",which was actually written by Hank Williams Sr. Oddly enough, I still sing BOTH songs today. I think of it as kind of paying homage to Gene and Guy for teaching me to sing. I was raised Catholic and went to a Catholic school for grades 1 through 8. This was back in the "old days" when you went to church EVERY SINGLE MORNING before school. Also, since back in the old days, Catholics went to church EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY. I guess you could say that I learned to sing because I sang EVERY SINGLE MORNING, except Saturday, from the time I was 6 years old on. In the church I went to, you were required to sing! If you didn't sing, you got your knuckles cracked with a ruler (Ouch!). Isn't it ironic how, sometimes, the ...
| | LD & The New Criticism Amoral Certitudes CD (2007) (Import) Spain
Blast Off CD music
$11.29 On their debut album, 2005's Tragic Realism, LD & the New Criticism seemed determined to channel the sound of leader L.D. Beghtol's friend and occasional bandmate Stephin Merritt's Magnetic Fields, right down to the conceit of having a grand theme for the album. The smaller scale Amoral Certitudes is a comparatively brief EP with no overarching throughlines, and more importantly, it dials back considerably on the Stephin Merritt comparisons. In their place, Beghtol and his associates create a sweet and sour form of chamber pop, on which his often sardonic lyrics mix comfortably with delicate, chiming tunes. Aside from a pair of brief trifles, the opening "Love Theme" and the Swingle Singers-like interlude "Light Verse," Amoral Certitudes consists of lyrically substantial, melodically rich tunes that nonetheless have a certain effervescence that pleasantly subverts their occasional darkness. It takes quite a bit to make a Lisa Germano cover sound like a lullaby, but this version of the singer/songwriter's typically gloomy "If I Think of Love" sounds perversely ...
| | Aubree-Anna Indescribable CD (2007)
Blast Off music CDs
$14.79 Every so often an artist comes along that has the potential and ability to inspire millions, and successfully impact a widely diverse audience of different nationalities, cultures and generations. And so we introduce to you, recording and international performing artist Aubree-Anna, that very diamond in the rough waiting to shine, with a heart of gold and warm smile that invite you into her heart where she reveals the secret to her true beauty. Aubree-Anna is not only a gifted singer, but an accomplished painter as well, specializing in color and black and white acrylic paintings of multicultural people, with a passion for women, the elderly, and Africa. Her interest in entertaining and art started early, but it wasn't until her high school years that she really began to blossom, performing in plays, choir, and entering competitions for both Music and Art, winning awards and accolades for her work. For the last seven years she has been training under Indie Label Crystola Records. This has allowed her to continue to grow in her writing (Aubree-Anna has written and copyrighted close to 200 songs to date), recording, and performing skills, as well as personally and professionally as an artist. Something magical happens while Aubree-Anna is performing and because of this, her popularity and demand for appearances for both public and private events has greatly increased throughout the last three years, and it's no surprise when you review her Cover Tune song list of over 200 songs that is updated every week with new material, which includes World music (singing some in Hindi and some in Spanish). Aubree-Anna is no stranger to the stage-from small upscale venues and private parties and weddings, singing the National Anthem and being the featured performer at the Texas Stadium for the Dallas Cowboys Alumni Event, and for the second consecutive year she was asked to perform at the Big State Fair of Texas, this year performing after Grammy Award Members, Boys II Men. Aubree-Anna ...
