| | Denny Casey Yesterdays Hero CD Denny Casey Discography of CDs
Hi Friends and Listeners My name is Denny Casey and this letter is to introduce and to tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised in Erie, Pa.I began playing music in the local bars when I got out of the military in the 60's. At that time we learned to play all of the Beatles songs and other popular groups and artists of the time including Motown, Chicago, Young Rascals, Dooby Bros. etc. That's what I did for a living 5 to 7 nights a week. Sometime in the mid seventies I went back to my roots, which were in country and southern rock. We began doing Eagles, Charlie Daniels, Alabama and all of the popular artists of that time. This is when I began to get interested in writing and recording my own music, but I was too busy trying to make a living to do anything about it. I started traveling and did that up until 1981. In 1981 my brother and I began a steady job in the Best Western at Exit 5 on I-90 just outside of Erie, Pa. Many of you who traveled through that area may remember those day's when the band named Casey vs.Casey lit up that stage until 1984. Some of the songs on this CD were started at that time and finished after I acquired the proper recording equipment and learned how to use it.The listener will find that the quality of the recording is very clean and pristeen, which is the same as it was in all of the bands and situations I played in. I was very picky live, and I am very picky in recording. I have been a Christian man all of my life. Two years ago I learned that a local church needed my kind of help. The people who did the music could no longer do it for one year. While making backround CD.s for the church, I wrote the three Gospel songs that are at the end of the CD. They are all uplifting songs with the basic Christian message, but even a non Christian will enjoy the high energy presentation of these songs. When asked to describe my music it is hard to define. All of the people who influenced me are much too numerous to mention. Jim Croce, Ray Charles, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson are just a very few of them. The energy in the recordings is undeniable. I like what I'm doing, and I hope you do also. Larry Franklin is descended from a family of legendary Texas fiddlers. His great uncle, Major Franklin, and his father, Louis Franklin, were seldom recorded but vastly influential fiddlers in the Texas fiddle style that has become the national "contest" style heard everywhere today. Larry was winning most of the major fiddle contests while still in his teens, and has gradually evolved into the all-around musician and top call Nashville session pro that he is today. 2002 Texas Fiddlers Hall of Fame inductee Voted "Fiddle Player Of The Year" for 1997and 2002 (Academy Of Country Music) 3-Time Grammy Winner In Music Row Magazine's Annual Session All-Star Poll, he has finished in the Top 2 or 3 every year since 1997.
