Following in the footsteps of the previous collection, A Windham Hill Christmas, Vol. 2 gathers more relaxing, sophisticated holiday music as performed by Windham Hill's roster of artists. The collection finds the right balance between traditional and contemporary, both in terms of its sound and its choice of songs. Will Ackerman and David Cullen's "I Wonder as I Wander" sounds gently modern, while Paul McCandless' "In Dulci Jubilo" has a slightly more traditional bent. Tracy Silverman and Thea Suits' strings and flute interpretation of "Away in a Manger" mixes both approaches and is breathtaking in its lovely simplicity. Most of the performances here, including Barbara Higbie's "Patapan," suggest pristine snowscapes or, in the case of Jim Brickman's "The First Noel," the warmth of a hearth, but Steve Erquiaga's "Joy to the World" may be the first rendition of the carol that sounds downright sunny. Tracks by Richard Schönherz, Alex de Grassi, and Tim Story and George Winston's "Silver Bells" complete the album, which like A Windham Hill Christmas, makes a lovely, subtle ...

Ven Bravo was born in Monterrey, Mexico . His family lived in Texas, where he grew up the youngest of three siblings. As a child he had a tenacious and independent spirit. As a young man his tenacity was further fueled by his creative drive. His outlet became music writing. It quickly became evident to those around him that he had a very unique talent for composing. In his late teens, he made a bold attempt at the music industry in Mexico. He was part of a band named "Paradigma". With Ven as the lead singer, the band began to play their spanish dance club music in venues all over Mexico. The band was working on releasing their first album when family business brought Ven back to Texas. His music career was placed on permanent hold. Once back in Texas, Ven launched himself into a real estate career. As it turned out he had a knack for business and he eventually built his own real estate and land development companies. Although, he was very successful in business Ven came to a point in his life were running his company was no longer fulfilling. His passion and drive for a music career had not diminished over the years. While spending time with his friends, someone talked about "living life to it's fullest" because 'you only live once". Those words struck a deep chord with him. He knew it was time for him finish what he had started so may years ago. In the fall of 2004 he made shocking decision by closing down his business and making music his priority. He hired his best friend and former band member Edward Ramirez to produce his first solo project . Between the two, they tracked , recorded, produced, and mixed the entire album in a home studio.
