| New Revelation Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Good CD It's not innovative for Astral Doors. Their sound is very steady through all of what I've heard of their career. This does offer some new sounds, and Nils sings differently in a couple songs, but there's not much to really to catch one's attention. It's good, but it's not what I normally experience with a new CD - a craze that lasts for a few weeks, where I don't want to listen to anything else. Astralized II Astral Doors has returned with their best effort yet !! By far one of the best kept secrets in metal today . If you are a fan of true power metal ,without the instrumental tangents of more progressive bands , than these guys are for you ! Great vocals in the trend of Ronnie James Dio , but with even more range and stlye . Lyrics and song structure are also outstanding . Wide range of topics and approaches here . No wimpy ballads or over commercialized crap . Yet still enuff hook , in a true metal sense .The band is as tight as they come , boasting great dual guitar work and an outstanding base player and even better drummer . This guy pounds ! Back also with this one is the fantastic production that was somewhat lacking on the last effort . Nice level sound . Clear and loud . Outsatnding tracks are " Planet Earth " , " Quisling " , and I`m drawn to " Bastard Son " as well ..... classic metal sound here ! If you buy no other Astral Doors cd , make this the one you pick up . It will leave you with a taste for the others . Submitted by Dragonbinder (Middle Earth) Was This Review Helpful? | | Axel Rudi Pell Mystica CD (2006)
New Revelation
$14.65 Yet another album by German guitar superstar Axel Rudi Pell, Mystica delivers...well, pretty much what every previous Axel Rudi Pell album has delivered. Pell is comfortable enough with his impressive chops that he doesn't have to do the whole God of the Fretboard routine that so many European metal guitarists are saddled with, so his albums are refreshingly light on the pyrotechnics. He does have a fondness for the pretentiously titled instrumental, however, so here listeners have "Haunted Castle Serenade (Opus #4 Grazioso e Aggresso)" and "The Mysterious Return (Intro)." Otherwise, this is utterly straightforward, by the book melodic hard rock in the '80s poodle-hair style, complete with former Hardline singer Johnny Gioeli's pleasant but utterly anonymous vocals. If you still treasure your Scorpions and Rainbow albums, Mystica is sure to please, but those whose taste in metal has progressed beyond 1987 might find this unapologetically old-school stuff too retro for their tastes. ~ Stewart Mason

| | Helloween Gambling With The Devil CDs (2007) Limited Edition 2 CD Version
New Revelation
$15.05 The unprecedented worldwide success of multinational British-based power metallers DragonForce has cast an unexpected light upon German speed metal trailblazers Helloween. Perhaps the first band to convincingly combine thrash metal intensity with the melody and majestic imagery of the NWOBHM, and by extension the blueprint upon which DragonForce based their "extreme power metal" style, Helloween were a heavy metal institution, but one that had very much fallen by the wayside upon the departure of classic-era singer Michael Kiske and founder/guitarist Kai Hansen in the mid-'90s. Singer Andi Deris has been a permanent fixture ever since, but the band has found stable lineups difficult to come by, and the quality of material has been equally inconsistent. Following 2005's Keeper of The Seven Keys: The Legacy, on which the band attempted to revive the style of their mid-'80s classics, Gambling with the Devil is a little more calculated. The appearance of Saxon mainstay ...

| | Trisha Yearwood Heaven, Heartache And The Power Of Love CD (2007)
New Revelation
$13.65 On her first album for an independent label after leaving MCA Nashville in 2005, Trisha Yearwood in no way downsized her musical ambition. Instead, the grandiose HEAVEN, HEARTACHE AND THE POWER OF LOVE is perhaps Yearwood's finest album, and certainly her most self-assured work since her early neo-traditionalist country days. Indeed, this album harkens back to that era of Yearwood's career: it was produced by her original musical partner, Garth Fundis, whose live-sounding production recalls the more rustic sound of the new traditionalists--featuring live drums instead of machines, piano and organ instead of synths, and acoustic guitars instead of rock-oriented electrics. Ironically, it was Yearwood's husband, Garth Brooks, whose commercial ascent in the early 1990s ended the brief reign of the new traditionalists, but HEAVEN, HEARTACHE AND THE POWER OF LOVE recalls the glory days of John Anderson, early Randy Travis, Lyle Lovett, and, indeed, the young Trisha Yearwood. Highlights include the powerful, nakedly emotional ballad "This Is ...
