The Simplistic Urge Biography: “Feel the Urge” Simplistic Urge may have started as a hard rock band, but what the group has become is slowly bridging the gap between pop and hardcore. Glimpses of hardcore, post hardcore, and pop find the band in a new rock genre: MELODICORE.Simplistic Urge, formed in ’03, is made up of five members: Tim Flynn- Lead Vocalist, Matty- Guitar and backup vocalist, Michael Styrczula-Guitar and backup vocalist, John Haracz- Bassist, Chris DiDomenico- Percussion. While immersed in the Chicago music scene, SU has played well-known venues such as The Double Door, The Elbo Room, The Congress Theatre, and the Lakeshore Theatre. The band is also well known at The Rave in Milwaukee, WI. SU participated in Bodog’s “In the Trenches” Music Competition, a national battle of the bands. They advanced to the second round of competition and gained more respect on the scene. SU also returned to Chicago’s House of Blues for their second appearance in Al Roker Jr’s XXXL bash with Bellevue Suite and El Guapo. The pinnacle of ’06 for Simplistic Urge was taking The Metro by storm during their performance at Songs from a Scene VI with Lucky Boys Confusion. Simplistic Urge has played with nationally renowned artists such as Letter Kills, Chevelle, StutterFly, Adair, and Collective Soul, as well as being chosen by Q101, Chicago’s largest alternative station, to compete in their Local Music Mail Room. Here listeners voted online for the best local band. SU won by over 40%, winning air time on the radio station for their single “One Sided.” SU was nominated as one of the finalists during Suburban Nightlife’s Best of the ‘Burbs competition. The band was also featured in a spread in the December ’06 edition of Clubline Magazine. In the summer of ’05, Simplistic Urge traveled to Malibu, CA to record Eight Sided Di. With ’06 came SU’s next EP Pulse of America. ’07 finds the band in another stage of evolution. Hardcore and pop clash head on to create SU’s newest sound: the EP Bridging the Gap. Two new recordings are on the way, as well as new merchandise and new venues to play. Simplistic Urge has just finished recording their new EP "Drown In Your Own Demise" with producer Steve Russell (As I Lay Dying, Sworn Enemy, Blindside, etc...) Drown Your Own Demise songs
$11.18 It's no secret that John Mayer is a 21st Century Fox, wining and dining women all through tabloid headlines, so it's about time he delivered an album that traded upon his loverman persona -- and Battle Studies is that record in spades. Retaining more than a modicum of the slick, soul-blues undertones of Continuum, Mayer fashions a modern groove ...

Drown Your Own Demise CD music
$12.65 THE STORY OF THE NINJAVIDUALSThe Ninjaviduals were formed in Winnetka, Illinois in late 2004 when someone broke his arm in a scooter accident. It was decided that Joe Presser would play keyboards, his brother Eastman Presser would play drums, local “fun-man” Josh Rodin would play guitar, and Joe Winer would play bass guitar. Combining their talents, The Ninjaviduals created a sound entirely their own, consisting of cool rock music with a beat you can dance to. They began writing songs and practicing in the Presser’s attic, a place that rock history would not soon forget.Soon after their creation, The Ninjaviduals started playing shows at all the local venues such as “The Winnetka Youth Center,” “The Warming House,” and “The Highland Park Borders: Books Music and Café.” People welcomed the new sound into their emo-ridden neighborhood. The Ninjaviduals built a fan-base featuring all sorts of great people. They all liked to dance. The Ninjaviduals are not actually ninjas, although they do have a friend who is a ninja. His name is John Benjamin, and he is one of their biggest supporters. With the assistance of some guy named Taylor, The Ninjaviduals entered the Emergenza competition and played shows all over Chicago at venues such as “The Note,” “The Double Door,” and “The Metro.” They really enjoyed themselves. As it turned out, even people of legal drinking age could enjoy The Ninjaviduals. After reaching the North American finals of the competition, they decided it was time to record an album. In spring of ...

$13.15 CHOOGLIN'"If you're looking for a condensed history of "choogle," head over to TCBlog. In the meantime, Minneapolis quartet Chooglin', who rocked Beerland shortly before South by Southwest, take the name seriously on their latest self-titled.Armed with a Creedence-coined moniker and a logo nicked from Chicago (might wanna lawyer up on that count, boys), Chooglin' blasts far beyond whatever notions those two weapons might confer. The fourpiece utilizes garage-borne punk fury to remind us of the ass-shaking salvation once offered by the boogie-down guitar rock of the Seventies before it got all bloated on deli trays and cocaine.Ex-Midnight Evils Jesse Tomlinson and Brian Vanderwerf conjure up double-barreled guitar pyrotechnics while drummer Shawn Walker splays himself every which way at a hundred miles an hour without losing time. Opener "So Stupid" spins itself into a frenzy approximating a speed-of-sound collision between Muddy Waters, Foghat, and the Streetwalkin' Cheetahs. Breakneck soul workout "Do It to It" and a well-placed cover of Roy Head's "Treat Her Right" garner extra ...
