Laura Pausini, a multilingual Italian pop singer who won a Latin Grammy in 2005 for Best Female Pop Vocal Album, decided to record an album of cover songs when she returned to the studio to record her follow-up effort. This is a fairly standard practice for pop/rock artists, of course, especially in the wake of a mammoth success like the one Pausini experienced with Resta in Ascolto (released concurrently in Spanish as Escucha in the Americas). Yo Canto (likewise released concurrently in Spanish) is a somewhat unusual covers album, however, for it's comprised of Italian pop/rock songs from the 1970s, '80s, and '90s -- few, if any, of which will be familiar to listeners across the Atlantic. Pausini performs the songs in a manner similar to that of Resta in Ascolto: the songs are heavily produced, layered with guitar, bass, and drums in addition to strings and synthesizers, and the performances are quite dramatic, often soaring to intense heights during the choruses, complemented by lyrics that are moody and poetic. Arty & Vic Pellerano,a product of the 60's. After the Beatles hit the music scene, 1963. We took up guitar & started to compose our own music, being influenced by array of styles. From the Everly Brothers,Beatles to Zeppelin. My brother and I, did the usual thing, in High school, rock bands,garage bands, etc. My style of music took hold after finding my niche with the kind of voice I have. Songs and ballads that were folky, carried messages and painted the world with words..John Denver's style was a prefect match for me.I am called "The John Denver of North Dakota". in the Fargo N.D.area. I paint the beauty & history of North Dakota, the Northern Plains and the world around us with my words and music.Being an Graduate Architect, I always felt that reflected in the design of lines and rhythms, Nature's Architecture (sometimes man's)and Music were always in harmony with eachother and that we are all connected in someway to that harmony, like "Songs in the Wind". We back eachother up, depending on the song. Arty writes also , his style is more rock and roll with Beatle/Bee Gee overtones. So we make a good blend of music. Together we have close to 300 songs. Just waiting to be heard. This CD is one facet of Pellerano's style of music.
