| | Ricky Martin Black And White Tour 2007 CD Ricky Martin Discography of CDs
(2 Customer Reviews)
Ricky Martin released his first live disc in 2006 with MTV UNPLUGGED. The album showed Martin to be a polished live performer capable of leading his tight band through powerfully energetic performances that outpaced his studio recordings. Martin must have known he was onto a good thing, because he released another live set in 2007.
BLACK AND WHITE TOUR doesn't have the same stripped-down quality of the MTV date, but it is still powered by an immediacy and a forcefulness that are very impressive. Again, Martin's band is top-notch, and there's no shortage of sparks flying on both the straightforward Latin grooves and the more streamlined dance-pop. "Vuelve" and "Tu Recuerdo" are here, as is, of course, "Livin' La Vida Loca."
Ricky's Black & White Tour kicked-off last February in Puerto Rico with a record setting run of 4 consecutive sold-out nights, performed for over 60,000 fans. The concert was shot in HD and mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound. The DVD/CD set features material video vignettes and concert photo gallery. La Mari of Chambao appears on one of the encores.

| | Charley Dush Breakdown Union CD (2007)
Black And White Tour 2007 album
$12.69 Music and songwriting influenced by the Beatles, Dylan, Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, Tom Petty, Kinks, Jayhawks and Paul Westerberg. CHARLEY DUSH- BREAKDOWN UNION- CFD- Twin Cities guy Dush has been around for a few years now and his debut from 2002 handed the listeners some nice slices of Beatle-esque pop while last year’s HIGHWOOD HILLS was even stronger. On his new record, BREAKDOWN UNION, Dush brings on board some folks from some of Mpls. most beloved bands, The Honeydogs and Golden Smog, and has easily made his strongest record yet. On the opening “Two Lonely Travelers” Peter Sands barroom piano adds a beautiful touch but it’s Dush’s vocals and acoustic guitar that drive the tune while on cuts like “Ready to Leave” and “One More Day of Happiness” a cry-in-your-beer pedal steel adds some flavor to the proceedings. Also, judging by the lyrics (especially “Ready to Leave” ) it sounds as if Dush has not had the easiest couple of years and it sounds as if BREAKDOWN UNION was almost a cathartic experience . I have said in the past that some musician’s ...

| | Serena Lauren In Your Doorway CD (2007)
Black And White Tour 2007 CD music
$7.19 While struggling through various relationship and family issues during her high school days in the late 90s, Serena Lauren turned to the radio for comfort—and only found one song, Everclear’s “Wonderful Again,” that had any kind of emotional, cathartic impact. Taking matters into her own hands, vowing to dig beneath the surface of the average three minute pop song, the Sacramento-bred, L.A. based singer-songwriter has been on a mission these past four years to communicate raw, honest emotions with listeners of her own generation and beyond. Following up her critically acclaimed EP’s Not So Simple (2002) and The Waking Up EP (2003), Serena is excited about the independent release of In Your Doorway, her long-awaited first full length album project. Produced by Brian Irwin, best known for his work with Ty Stone (recently signed to Kid Rock’s Top Dog label) and Astra Heights (signed to Universal), the collection features ten original tracks sung in English, plus Spanish versions of two key tracks, the driving opening cut “Pile of Teardrops” (“Mis Lagrimas”) and “Walk Away” (“Dejarlo”). Aside from paying homage to her half-Mexican heritage on her mother’s side, Serena’s inclusion of two Spanish tracks reflects the deep influence of Latin artists such as Shakira and Maná, whose music inspired Serena to write her first songs just weeks before starting college at Stanford University. “Although I was grateful to finally have a chance to record my songs,” she says, “I was somewhat at the mercy of the producers I worked with on those EP’s and felt like what I was going for wasn’t really communicated. As soon as I started working with Brian, I could tell things were on the right track. I pretty much focused on nothing else until we had finished recording the songs for In Your Doorway. A lot of the songs address the angst of feeling truly on my own for the first time after moving to L.A., the beginning and end of a relationship, and responding to the fact that, right before I moved down from up North, I found out my parents were getting divorced. I guess ...
