| | Game O S T / Guitar Hero 3 Guitar Hero 3 Soundtrack CD
A companion piece to the wildly popular GUITAR HERO 3 video game, this collection features six-string-driven heavy rock/metal songs that participants can "play" along with in classic air-guitar fashion. Highlights of the compilation include Sonic Youth's surging "Kool Thing" and Queens of the Stone Age's raucous "3's & 7's," tracks that will have listeners riffing and headbanging until the sun comes up. It seems odd to have a soundtrack to a music-oriented video game that's built on replicas of original recordings, but when something in pop culture turns into a true phenomenon, a soundtrack isn't far behind. And so, the release of a CD soundtrack to the hotly anticipated Guitar Hero 3 emerged, but the soundtrack seems a bit like an afterthought compared to the actual game, a seemingly random collection of ten highlights from the game -- including Smashing Pumpkins' "Cherub Rock," Queens of the Stone Age's "3's & 7's," Sonic Youth's "Kool Thing" -- which are fine enough listening on their own, but hardly extensive enough to satisfy the hardcore gamers who want a full soundtrack of the game. Those gamers are supposed to be satisfied by the expansion pack included on this CD, which will give players a code to download three exclusive songs to be used in the game: new cuts by AFI, Flyleaf, and a Marilyn Manson remix. Not exactly the most enticing batch of tunes ever, but something is better than nothing, yet as these songs aren't the best, and the basic soundtrack feels a bit skimpy, Guitar Hero 3 as a soundtrack is decidedly more underwhelming than the game. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine It seems odd to have a soundtrack to a music-oriented video game that's built on replicas of original recordings, but when something in pop culture turns into a true phenomenon, a soundtrack isn't far behind. Guitar Hero 3 Soundtrack
$10.15 Thinmen is a trio that formed after a freak accident that left us with super powers beyond earthly belief, and nervous. (Oh, sorry, that was the Fantastic Four...) After much discussion and caffeine and contemplation of our girlish figures, (Oh, sorry, that was the PowerPuff Girls) we started Thinmen: an eclectic pop/rock blend that refreshes and satisfies. Thinmen, as a trio, started recording in order to mask their singular, collective phobia of household appliances. "Nothing Like Our Picture" is our first full length CD. It is the result of many months of work, and our first opportunity to share the completed versions of these songs with our existing and hopefully new fans. Keyboardist Dave Alstead comes to Thinmen with an extensive classical piano background, but with a willingness to mix it up. Discovery and adventure are among his goals for Thinmen, ...

Guitar Hero 3 Soundtrack
$22.75 Still fresh from their earliest days on the rough and tumble North East music scene, the Mosaics continue to surpass even their own aspirations as they rapidly ascend to high altitudes within the UK music scene, blossoming into a compelling live act - beloved of all who encounter them. Having honed their melodic yet propulsive sound for two years, growing consistently sharper and more sophisticated along the way, the band have attained a sparkling live set that is a 'must see' for even the most discerning music fan. Still a relatively young band, The Mosaics were quick to discover the virtues of experience and have been gigging solidly since forming in 2005, combining a hardcore work ethic with an unerring instinct for songwriting. “I think the collective mindset that brought the band together has survived pretty much everything that has come our way,” asserts vocalist and guitarist Dan McClew, “we have so many accomplishments that we can only build on and develop in the years to come”. Not least of these accomplishments being the band’s 2006 Record of the Year Award from Radio Six for their stunning single Runner, or the recent award from ...
