The film is reissued with a collectible booklet by Life Magazine and CD. Carrie, a shy teenager with a fiercely religious and oppressive mother, struggles to come to terms with her emerging sexuality and extraordinary telekinetic powers. Just as she's beginning to enjoy a sudden change in her life, a cruel practical joke drives her to a monstrous act of revenge and destruction. Brian De Palma's commercial breakout, based on a novel by Stephen King, helped launch a whole slew of teen-based horror films, and Carrie the blood-spattered prom queen has taken her throne in the pantheon of modern American myth. High school girls played by Amy Irving (in her film debut), P.J. Soles, and Nancy Allen plot to avenge themselves on ostracized fellow student and budding telekinetic Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) after they get in trouble for pelting her with tampons. When they get popular boy Tommy Ross (William Katz) to be her date for the prom, the stage is set for some heart-rending cruelty and fiery retribution. De Palma expertly uses split screens, slow motion, color filters, and tracking shots to imbue the proceedings with a haunting, allegorical elegance. Piper Laurie plays Carrie's mentally ill, devoutly Christian mom; she's brilliant, as is Spacek. John Travolta has a memorable pre-SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER role as one of the girls' beer-guzzling boyfriends. There was finally a sequel in 1999, as well as a short-lived Broadway musical. Theatrical Release: November 3, 1976. Carrie Reviews: "Brian De Palma's best movie, his virtuoso technique meeting its match in Sissy Spacek's touching performance."

Carrie Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Beautiful This is one of the best movies ever. I can relate to Carrie and sympathize with her and the way she feels. It always makes me happy when she is crowned queen. She deserves it. As for Sue, it shows that there are decent people in this world. It was really nice of her to give up her prom to show Carrie that she actually cares. Submitted by Ben (Surrey, British Columbia, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Classic 70s horror I decided to watch this movie because the movie was based on a novel by Stephen King, so I knew it was going to be good. After I finished watching this film I realised that ir is one of the greatest horror films ever. It would most definately be in my top ten list because of its detail and story. Sissy Spacek did an unbelivable job as Carrie. This movie is so psychological and allows the audience to actually feel what Carrie is feeling throughout the movie. The ending is definately the highlight of the movie and when the bucket of pigs blood fell on her head, I knew everyone at that prom would get what was coming to them. The scene at the end with her Mother showed psychological importance in terms of trust, religion and guilt. A must have movie based on a Stephen King novel Submitted by Joey (Sydney, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Great horror flick! I saw this in the movie theater back in 1976. It was great! It scared the hell out of me, especially the mother. The grave scene at the very end, made me jump out of my seat! I haven't seen the remake, but there's no way it could be anywhere near as good as this one! Submitted by Lance (New Jersey) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful. Jacob's Raitings Carrie was a good movie, not the best movie, but it was close to the book. this movie was both scary and entertaining. Stephen King Started his career with this book. As for the movie well I like this version better than the remade 2002 version because in the remade one Carrie Lives! OH MY GOD but I think the story like the book and this movie is the best one. Definatley one to buy, I rait it on 3 stars for a good movie Submitted by Jacob Starks "OLLIEOH" (West Virginia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
I don't get it I don't get it? why is it that every time I watch this movie it always ends the same with her dying. I mean goodness you would figure that the next time you put in the movie she would at least do something different besides getting my blood on her and going crazy potatoes. If I could rate this movie a billion guappos I would not. Another thing, Is this movie based on true events? I hope not cause I am scared like a little mangirl of her. especially when she smiles, OH MY GOD!!!! so freakin creeeepy. Oh its a good movie one of the best stephen kings addaptations, but it is nothing but the gravey train. Ollieoh 4 ever yall I am out peace with me homey down to the frizz. $7.39 You thought Michael Myers was decapitated at the end of HALLOWEEN: H20? Think again. The latest installment in the popular horror franchise, HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION, uses a clever premise to give the legendary murderer yet another opportunity to wreak havoc on a cast of innocent characters. Back in Haddonfield, Illinois, Freddie Harris (Busta Rhymes), upstart entrepreneur of Dangertainment.com, recruits six lucky college students to partake in a potentially dangerous game. Wearing miniature video cameras, the participants must spend Halloween night inside the decrepit home of Michael Myers, to the delight of Internet viewers all over the country. While most of the kids are in it for fun, fame, and fortune, Sara Moyer (Bianca Kajlich) is a glaring exception. Innocent, shy, and nervous, Sara grudgingly joins her friends Jen (Katee Sackhoff) and Rudy (Sean Patrick Thomas), against her better judgment. As darkness sets in and the bodies begin to pile, it's up to Sara--aided by an Internet pen pal--to put an end to Michael once and for all (or so she thinks!). Director Rick Rosenthal (HALLOWEEN 2) and screenwriters Larry Brand and Sean Hood incorporate technology into the story, using a grainy visual approach to add another layer of creepiness to the proceedings.
The reality programmers at DangerTainment have selected Rudy, Bill, and a group of thrill-seeking teenagers to spend one fun-filled night in the childhood home of serial killer Michael Myers. But the planned live broadcast turns deadly when their evening of excitement becomes a night of horror as Michael himself decides to crash the party! Stars Busta Rhymes, Jamie Lee Curtis, Ryan Merriman, Sean Patrick ...

$8.05 Veteran slashers Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees join forces in this combination sequel to the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and FRIDAY THE 13TH series. The film begins with a quick recap of both Freddy and Jason's "lives," underscoring their respective motivations to kill and their distinct weaknesses. Freddy (Robert Englund) explains that the present children of Elm St. (including Monica Keena, Jason Ritter, Katherine Isabelle, and Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child) have no memory of him, and if they don't know he exists, he can't enter their dreams to kill them. Ingeniously, he reaches out to Jason (Ken Kirzinger), the brutish death machine from Camp Crystal Lake, to go on an Elm Street killing spree, hoping a lot of gory murder will jog the town's memory.
Jason is up to the task, quickly dispensing with teenager after teenager in suburban homes, cornfields, medical labs and, of course, the forest. Freddy grows jealous over Jason's body count, and so must intervene, setting off a battle royale between the two highly adored slasher heroes across dreamworlds and realities. In another post-modern twist, a character seemingly modeled after Jay from Kevin Smith's films appears in the movie, adding both a comedic element and another level of reality vs. fiction. FREDDY VS. JASON employs a variety of special effects to update these undying series, not the least of which is uniting their once disparate stories.
This DVD feature film stars Monica Keena, Kelly Rowland, Jason ...

$9.69 This fourth installment of the series takes place ten years after the original and finds the man in the William Shatner mask in a coma and being transferred from Richmond Mental Institute to Smith's Grove. However, the van gets into a horrible accident, skidding off the road and exploding. Predictably, Myers' body is nowhere to be found in the wreckage, alarming both the skeptical police and the indefatigable Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence). Soon, Myers is spotted back in Haddonfield, and it becomes obvious that his next target is his young niece, Jamie (Danielle Harris). His return has whipped the town into a frenzied mob, which proves to be unfortunate for the Halloween revelers who have chosen the popular "Michael Myers" mask as their costume. Often considered the best of the sequels, ...
