Between the release of 2004's The Best Of and 2007's Greatest Hits, Groove Armada released a grand total of one studio album, so it seems like a very peculiar time for the duo's second compilation. Greatest Hits, which even looks a whole lot like The Best Of, merely replaces five of its predecessor's inclusions with cuts taken from 2007's Soundboy Rock. So, on this disc, you get "Song 4 Mutya," "Get Down," "Love Sweet Sound," "Lightsonic," and "Girls Say" instead of "Take Me Home," "Madder," "Chicago," "Think Twice," and "Inside My Mind." Between the two releases, there are nine overlapping tracks. They are both adequate overviews. ~ Andy Kellman

With all its understated vocals, hushed instrumentals, and lyrical declarations of/investigations into love, EXCITER is undoubtedly the warmest and most "adult" Depeche Mode album to date. "When the Body Speaks" is an effectively poignant ballad complete with graceful string section. "Lovetheme" is a gentle ambient instrumental that wouldn't sound out of place next to any German electronicat you care to mention. Later another, slightly more melodic, instrumental ("Easy Tiger") pops up. "Goodnight Lovers" is a bittersweet tune full of open-hearted sentiment and heart-tugging melodicism.

This stellar 1995 Christmas album is not your typical release of holiday standards. In fact, Luther helped pen most of the songs on this album. His originals include the excellent "With a Christmas Heart," "This Is Christmas," and "A Kiss for Christmas." But for those with an allegiance to the standards, "My Favorite Things" and "O' Come All Ye Faithful" are duly included among these 10 lovely tracks. Well-known bassist/arranger/producer Marcus Miller plays on some of the tracks, while well-coifed '80s rock balladeer Richard Marx co-wrote "Every Year, Every Christmas."
