| | Maxwell Now CD (2001)
Speed Motion album
$8.85 "Lifetime" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
Rebounding from the slight sophomore lag generated by 1998's EMBRYA, Maxwell's follow-up NOW abandons the neo-soul man's usual M.O. of using a conceptual arc of songs, and instead focuses on individual cuts. Romance remains the main ingredient found in this Brooklyn native's banquet of song, and although he stands firmly in the neo-soul camp of D'Angelo and Erykah, his use of various stylistic nuances once again stamps him as an original item. Twangy ...

| | Dan Coffey Follow Up Treatment CD (2006)
Speed Motion songs
$9.75 Having been involved in many bands as a guitarist from pop/rock to prog/metal over an 11-year period Dan wrote and recorded many songs, sent out many demos and explored his own musical influences to great extent. Around 2003 it finally emerged to Dan that the very tools he used to record, were in fact sophisticated instruments among themselves. Since then Dan has become heavily involved in music/sound composed, performed and recorded using various electronic and/or home made gizmos ranging from quirky electro/pop to a lengthy, almost 'sound-scape' like collage of themes. These musical experiments have now culminated into the 2005 album 'Follow up Treatment' with extensive button pushing and detailed beat programming for your musical enjoyment.--------------Electricity flows from cell to cell over the synapses in Dans brain, enduring a lengthy path through limbs and fingers, guitars and keyboards, drum machines and tape machines, eventually being converted into waves of sound we hear pumping out of our lo-fi hi-fi. Somewhere along this path 'music ' has been created and compiled together for the album Follow up Treatment . Fusing atonal percussive noise with ambient melodic interchange, Follow up Treatment promises to make your head nod, your brain tick and your neighbours complain. Completely written and recorded by Dan Coffey in his small home studio, the 21 year old offers us an insight into his way of turning numbers into beats and 1984 into 2005 with ear-catching results. REVIEWS:Ahhh, what a cure for all those serious and depressing records we get through the tasty pages each month. Not that 'Follow Up Treatment' should not be taken seriously. This collection of wonderfully squelchy lo-fi electronica gems just dives off in different tangents at every possibility, freed from the shackles of having to follow any particular agenda or genre. Whether it's with what sounds like an electro gazoo solo or just the downright funky 'Cool', 'Follow Up Treatment' fair tootles along through 13 tracks of musical diversity. Some parts are almost orchestral. 'My Coat's Prelude' is a bit like New Order in their pomp while 'Process' almost defies definition like an elusive 808 State shimmering through a watery mix. If you don't find something on here to rock your boat you deserve shut in a dodgy wine bar with Charlotte Church for a lock-in. Tasty Fanzine December 2005Big up to the bedroom heroes. This is a labour of love and has had months of sweat and polish applied to make it as close to Dan Coffey's idiosyncratic vision as possible. No compromise to the corporate ...
