Another year, another Gary Moore blues-rock album nearly interchangeable with the last. That's no problem for fans or even newcomers, because despite the surface similarities between releases, Moore never seems to be going through the motions for the sake of further bulking up his already substantial catalog. His tough guitar lines remain biting yet classy, and his underappreciated voice is strong and convincing on originals and covers that nail all of the blues-rock bases without sounding rote. All Else Failed attempts to capture the urgency of most "emo" or nu-metal bands with wailing vocals and bruising guitars. This is indicative on the opening "The Revisionist." Johnny Duke and the Aces is a young, high-energy blues band inspired by Texas and Delta blues, Jazz, and Rock styles. They play both originals and covers, with covers varying from Robert Johnson to Jimi Hendrix.The band recently returned from a trip to Los Angeles where they shot a music video for a new original tune called "Don't Feel Too Good", which is going to be featured on their new album (entitled "Taillights", scheduled for release on June 16th at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia). Having Mississippi roots, the Delta-blues style of music is frequently evident in his guitar playing.
