Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door Video Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door Movie Review Average Rating: (2 out of 5 stars) EXCELLENT NOVEL, POOR MOVIE Based on Jack Ketchum's best novel, which in turn is based on the real life story of the severe victimization and death of Sylvia Likins ("The Indiana Torture Slaying") this movie was, considering how good the book is, poorly done. Not surprisingly situations have been changed around, but that is not the worse complaint. Not only is the actress(Blythe Auffarth)playing victim Meg obviously in her twenties (Meg is supposed to be fourteen) but the one portraying nutcase mother and aunt Ruth(Blanche Baker)is so phony in her performance that she annoys more than scares. The film seems to rush through events, and although there is a scene near the end in which one would feel greatly for the victim, every other situation is off and there is hardly any depth or development between the the characters. I would say that the best one is David, played by Daniel Manche, the only actor not to get on my nerves. This being said, stick with the novel and the real story. These are memorable; this film is not. Submitted by jenhedwig (New York) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door review
$10.19 The grisly and debauched film PATHOLOGY is a juiced-up medical thriller that plays like FLATLINERS with a mean streak and a broken moral compass. Writers Mark Nelvedine and Brian Taylor have created a premise allowing for CSI-like forensics along with heaps of sex and violence, truly making the most of the film's R-rating. A high-end exploitation film with good performances, PATHOLOGY is strong enough for horror fans and should go down smoothly for non-squeamish viewers with a taste for the dark side.
Gifted med student Ted Grey (Milo Ventimiglia, HEROES) arrives at a major Washington, D.C., as an intern, where he is met with suspicion and resentment by the tightly knit group of fellow young pathologists-in-training. Soon, though, Ted is accepted into their circle---where they each take turns committing a murder so that the others may prove their mettle by figuring out the cause of death and celebrate with drug-fueled orgies among the dead bodies in the hospital. Things change for Ted, though, when his law student fiancée, Gwen (Alyssa Milano), moves to the city and helps to scare him straight. Soon, ...

$9.99 At once soft-hearted and hard-edged, TRADE provides a compassionate look at an ugly world. In Mexico City, men kidnap13-year-old Adriana (Paulina Gaitan) with the intent of selling her virginity to the highest bidder. Young Polish beauty Veronica (Alicja Bachleda) is held captive by the same men, and they threaten her young son across the ocean. As the criminals mistreat their victims, Veronica is Adriana's only solace as she is taken farther and farther away from home. Meanwhile, Adriana's older brother, Jorge (Cesar Ramos), begins to track his sister across the Mexican border into Texas and through the United States. On his mission, he runs into a Texas cop named Ray (Kevin Kline) who agrees to help him without ever really saying why.
TRADE isn't escapist fare: it's a socially conscious film that doesn't flinch from the most painful of details about the sex trade. There's rape, pedophilia, and suicide, and the film doesn't look away or glance over the horrors. This is German director Marco Kreuzpainter's first film on these shores, ...

$21.39 Gary Winick (THIRTEEN GOING ON 30) had a lot to live up to in remaking a beloved children's movie, itself based on the classic novel by E. B. White, but this 2006 live-action version more than fulfills its promise. With droll '50s-inspired art direction, low-key and earnest performances, and the cutest ensemble cast of farm animals since BABE, Winick maintains the deeply moral (though not moralistic) themes of the ...
