2007 digitally remastered reissue of the album debut by producer Nick Bracegirdle's nom de plume with an added bonus track, 'Offshore 2007'. The album first appeared in 1997 and is regarded by balaeric/trance music enthusiasts as an absolute classic. 'Lost You Somewhere' features cellist Caroline Lavelle on vocals, 'Sunstroke' features vocals by Luce Dayton and 'Offshore 97' features vocals by Louise Burton (as Power Circle). It's spotty availability over the years coupled with Chicane's ever growing popularity made the album somewhat of a collector's item, occasionally commanding over $100 on internet sites. Nine of the 11 tracks here are ballads. Their uncluttered arrangements spotlight Jacintha's smooth and sensuous voice, while her expressive phrasing draws the most from the classic Johnny Mercer lyrics. Jacintha includes the original lyrics to "Autumn Leaves," done in soft and flawless French; otherwise, her primary innovation is to deliver the tunes straight and sincerely, with minimal improvisation and maximum tenderness. There's no trace of the customary bitterness in "One More for the Road," and her unaccompanied reading of "Moon River" liberates that song from any prior goopy associations. In fact, her version brings out the poignancy of the lyrics so purely that her additional chorus, coming after a rather wandering piano interlude, seems redundant. Richard Kevin Kemp Sr. was born in French Camp California on August 27th, 1959, and grew up in Stockton, CA. While attending Franklin High School, Kevin played drums and trombone in the well known Franklin Jazz Band, under the direction of Mr. Mel Won. Kevin also played drums in the Stockton Police Commodore Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as in local bands in the Stockton area. In 1981, Kevin, in his own words was seduced by the nightlife and drug culture, and became addicted to cocaine. As a result of a (4) month bout with drug addiction, Kevin was convicted of a drug related crime and sentenced to State prison. He served over (19) years in prison, and was released from San Quentin Prison in May, 2003. All of the songs ministered on this CD project were conceived and written within the prison walls of a California State Prison; most being written in San Quentin Prison where Kevin served as Minister of Music, and director for the world renowned San Quentin Prison Choir. During this period Kevin was assigned as an assistant to Chaplain Earl Smith Sr., which gave him a unique opportunity to minister to literally thousands of men. Kevin also co-founded I.M.P.A.C.T.
