Personnel: Arnold Mischkulnig (keyboards, programming); Gintas Janusonis, Shaun Darson (drums). Audio Mixer: Arnold Mischkulnig. After eight months in the belly, the Ill Na-Na returned with plenty of stress to get off her chest. Packed with memorable guest appearances, catchy radio-ready hooks, and hardcore street anthems, BROOKLYN'S DON DIVA sees the female MC return to the same level of mic command that she displayed on her debut. As always, Foxy's approach is aggressive and battle-hungry and her sex appeal and appetite for seduction constitute much of her boast-based lyricism, occupying the space that most testosterone-fueled rappers reserve for drug-sales, gun skills, and money stacks. Production comes courtesy of Street Radio, Jamal Doctor, Stereotype, Young Gavin, Will Fulton, Statik Selektah, and Fizzy Womack of M.O.P. AZ, Dwele, Mavado, Jay Rush, DeMarco, Morgan Heritage, Spragga Benz, Kira, Prinz, Lil Mo, and Grafh are featured. You'd think seven years -- turbulent years that involved a bout with near-total deafness and in-public temper issues that led to some time behind bars -- would allow Foxy Brown more than enough time and experiences to make Brooklyn's Don Diva anything but a reheated version of 2001's Broken Silence, but that is what it most resembles, as opposed to a bold step forward or a reclamation of her power. A couple tracks and a few stray lines aside, these verses could have been dashed off by the MC at just about any earlier point in her career -- a shame since the hypnotizing likes of "Too Real," featuring snaking and skanking production from Statik Selektah (and a verse from AZ), and "Star Cry" hint at how potent the album could've been, given the soul-searching tension between anger, sadness, and swaggering combativeness. During the latter, she temporarily rejects her possessions and fame, fights back tears through "I'm just like y'all, but I probably hurt more/After 13 years I feel I deserve more." But these moments are few and far between, moderately satisfying only for those who have been eager to get their hands on a new Foxy Brown album since the 2005 single "Come Fly with Me" (unfortunately not included here). Retraced steps, backed by an assembly line of knockoff production work, are the rule. ~ Andy Kellman Brooklyn's Don Diva Music | List Price | $17.98 (You save $3.69) | | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, R&B CDs, Urban Soundtrack, East Coast Rap, Rap | | Label | Koch | | Orig Year | 2007 | | All Time Sales Rank | 133021 | | CD Universe Part number | 7532624 | | Catalog number | 5030 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | May 13, 2008 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Personnel | AZ, Lil Mo, Dwele, Lady Saw, Demarco, Kira, Morgan Heritage, Mavado, Spragga Benz, Grafh, Jay Rush, Prinz |

| Brooklyn's Don Diva Music Review Average Rating: (2.7 out of 5 stars) Umm? Since Foxy hates this mixtape because it was released without her consent, I am going to go easy on this cd. Well for starters, there are some good songs on here like "Never Heard This Before", "Star Cry", "Too Real" and "Bulletproof Love", the others are filled with repeated verses from other songs. Who the hell put this cd together??? Good she fired the people that were responsible for this incomplete body of work. Submitted by ajohnson31683 (Mississippi) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Mike Freeman Zonavibe In The Zone CD (2007)
Brooklyn's Don Diva
$13.15 Mike Freeman ZonaVibe brings together a heady blend of musical elements in an original and highly engaging ensemble. The vibesman behind many notable musicians and groups, Mike emerges from the tradition forged by Cal Tjader, Tito Puente, and the groups of Joe Cuba that placed the vibraphone at the heart of Latin music. His many years of playing in several of New York’s hottest salsa groups and natural affinity for Caribbean, African, and Brazilian rhythms combined with strong writing skills, a thoroughly developed jazz background, and dynamic performing style underscore the performances of ZonaVibe.Traveling to the Caribbean, ZonaVibe and Vibe Caliente (Mike's salsa group) gave fiery and enthusiastically received performances at the Trinidad & Tobago Steelpan and Jazz Festival. ZonaVibe performed at the Festival Internacional on the island of Terceira in the Azores and was part of Central Park’s Harlem Meer concert series in New York City. Several First Night celebrations include Vibe Caliente in Binghamton, NY, 2008, with ZonaVibe bringing in 2009, in Westport, CT. Other past performances for Mike as a leader include: the Flood Relief Concert in Des Moines, Iowa; opening for Stan Getz in Boston; performing to a huge hometown audience at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, NE; the Berks, Rehoboth Beach, Hennessy Greenwich Village, and JVC Newport jazz festivals as well as an extensive tour of Portugal, cosponsored by the Fulbright Foundation and the American Embassy. His recordings of original music have gained national and international attention and extensive airplay charting on jazz, contemporary jazz, and World music radio. From the start, the music Mike wrote and performed ranged from jazz, Latinjazz, Brazilian, fusion, and R&B. Mike Freeman & Spellbound’s 1985 self-titled debut recording was followed by the highly successful “Street Shuffle” with Jeff Jenkins, Dave Stryker, Kip Reed, and Graham Hawthorne (now with Paul Simon). His next recording “Wiggle Stomp” reflects a deeper immersion in the Latin scene that began in the mid 1990’s. With his lastest CD “In the Zone”, Mike takes that exploration to yet another level. He displays the considerable range of his ...
