The debut album by alternative CCM act Red, END OF SILENCE blends impassioned but not preachy lyrics with heavy alt-rock in a vein that's similar to nu-metal acts like Linkin Park and Evanescence. Singer Mike Barnes's better than average voice and thoughtful lyrics are the band's strongest points, but the group provides a massive rock wallop on tracks like "Breathe into Me" and Let Go."

For many years, power metal has been dominated by bands -- not solo artists -- but Rob Rock is a rare example of a power metal singer who has been enjoying a solo career. And there is another thing that separates him from the majority of power metallers: he is a Christian singer.
