In the silver-screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling's HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, the fifth chapter in the beloved book series, everyone's favorite wizard-in-training (Daniel Radcliffe) finds himself in increasingly perilous situations. Not only is Harry in trouble with the Ministry of Magic for using his abilities outside of school, his trusted mentor, Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon), has grown distant, and an icy new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton), has arrived to bring a frightening level of discipline to Hogwarts. And waiting in the shadows is the demonic Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), an ominous figure whose very existence is questioned by the powerful Ministry, leaving Harry and his friends--most notably Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson)--to form a rebel group, Dumbledore's Army. Helmed by little-known British director David Yates and written by Michael Goldenberg (the first scribe to fill the boots of Steve Kloves), THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX continues the darker tone of the two preceding POTTER installments and deftly follows Harry, Ron, and Hermione as they face new foes and impending adulthood. While Radcliffe, Grint, and Watson all continue to imbue their characters with vitality and complexity, Staunton steals the show as the strict, merciless Umbridge, though the story, which lacks some of the special-effects-heavy set pieces of past chapters, happily leaves room for other actors to shine, most notably Alan Rickman (as the ever-enigmatic Severus Snape), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), David Thewlis (Remus Lupin), and Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange). Another fine offering of POTTER movie magic, PHOENIX may not astound quite the way that THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN did, but it easily stands as one of the best films in the series.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix Reviews:

"[Staunton's] showstopping Dolores slays her charges with pepperminty steeliness....The character is a Pepto-Bismol-tinted bolt of energy..." -- Grade: B+-- Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly

"[A] sleek, swift and exciting adaptation of J.K. Rowling's longest novel to date....A tense and twisty political thriller, with clandestine meetings, bureaucratic skullduggery and intimations of conspiracy hanging in the air."-- A. O. Scott, New York Times

3 stars out of 5 -- "PHOENIX is one of the stronger entries in the Potter cine-canon, fizzing with exceptional FX..."-- Matt Mueller, Total Film

3 stars out of 5 -- "The opening is fantastic, both stylish yet understated as it sees the magical and muggle world clash unexpectedly."-- Natalie Braine, Ultimate DVD

"[T]his seems a return to the more straightforward action-adventure format of the first two Chris Columbus-directed films....[With] pacey action and CG thrills..."-- Vicky Wilson, Sight and Sound

4 stars out of 5 -- "The last act is the reward here, a series of breathtaking magical showdowns....This is a proper, grown-up adventure. And that bodes well for the films to come."-- Helen O'Hara, Empire

1 star Awful, just awful!
This is the worst Harry Potter yet! The only time i'm ever gonna bother with HP & The Half Blood Prince is when I get to see it for free! Seriously people, this is a film that no one should bother to watch, i'm just glad I didn't have to pay jack to see this horrible film, save your money and save your time!

5 stars One of the best if not the best Harry potter!!!
This one is good, but it remind's me a bit of a Lord of the ring's movie just by the pace.I think this movie's good because it's not as memorable as the rest. That could be good or bad.If you remember it real well, why ever watch it again. But this movie remind's me ever so slowly why it's cool.So in a way it has more playability. But all in all I liked it...

5 stars A very good film! Different but good!!!
A good film.To tell you the truth it remind's me more of a lord of the ring's movie.Just by the way the pace is.Not that that's bad.Just a little different. In some way's I think it increases the playability.I mean I really like part 3 Azkaban. But after you've seen it a couple of times.Much like the Matrix the plot is easy to remember.(spoiler)It all revolves around the time turner. But this doesn't revolve around really anything. So you have to watch it again to remember what it's about. So that could be good or bad.But I found it to be refreshing...

5 stars I like the different approach on this film!!!
It didn't have the twists, and turn's of prisoner of azkaban, and the chamber of secret's.None the less it looked good, and had some interesting new character's,and a good solid story, and ending. My only complaint on all the film's is that they're slow in the beginning alot of the times. It would be cool if they were a bit more fast paced in the beginning.Other than that it's pretty good...

3 stars Disappointment with hyphenated rush to production !
This episode was way to short to do justice to the wonderfully developed storyline related in the book. I certainy hope that when the Deadly Hallows is produced, they realize that concentrating on only a 120-150 minute theater visit - - does allow justice to the final development of this very involved story. Failure to adequately develop the explanations that draw this story together, as failed in this 5th. installment, will deeply depress true followers of the Harry Potter story. Just too much of the book is lost in poor editing decisions. Even the actors seemed a bit rushed to finish shots, without the polish that would have made the final product much more "Real". Real, complared to the "Harry Potter" we love from the well developed Books.

Loosely inspired by the time-honored Disney theme-park ride, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL is a swashbuckling high-seas tale directed by Gore Verbinski. When Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), an eccentric rogue, arrives at Port Royal, he barely avoids going down with his ship. Soon enough, he's in the market for a new one, but not before he saves the life of Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), the beautiful daughter of the governor (Jonathan Pryce). This act of bravery sets into motion a sweeping adventure involving Elizabeth's childhood ...

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix review

Adults who may have been turned off by the more kid-friendly elements of the first two Potter films should sit up and cheer; this fourth installment of Harry's adventures at the magic school of Hogwarts is more mature and darker than its immediate predecessor. This year, Hogwarts is hosting the Tri Wizard festival, and there may be a plot afoot to off Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) during the proceedings. Hermione (Emma Watson) finds a man worthy of her in competing Russian Quidditch champion Viktor Krum (Stanislav Ivaneski), to the chagrin of Ron Weaselly (Rupert Grint) who, though growing into a fine, shaggy orange-haired figure of a lad, is still not quite mature enough to ask Hermione to the Yule ball. Krum's teacher may be involved in the dastardly get-Harry plot, which involves writhing snake tattoos, skull clouds, death-eaters, tournaments with live ...

After the action of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST, anti-hero Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is trapped in the netherworld of Davy Jones's locker. Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) has returned from the dead to aid Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) in their quest to rescue the beloved captain. They journey to Singapore to ask for help from notorious pirate Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat), and with this new alliance, they travel to the edge of the earth to find Jack. Then they will join forces with the world's most powerful pirates to unite against Lord Brackett (Tom Hollander) and the East India Company. AT WORLD'S END is an exercise in excess, boasting a running time of nearly three hours and a labyrinthine map of double- and triple-crosses. Characters return from the dead and change allegiances with ease, thanks to the magic of Tia Dalma (Naomie Harris) and the pirate code of ethics--or lack thereof. Though the third ...

The Marvel comics hero returns for more high-flying fun in this third installment in the series. Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) is up to his usual Spidey tricks, attending university classes as an awkward geek, then quickly slipping into his red-and-blue suit to save New York City from various villains. And there are villains aplenty. Thomas Hayden Church blows in as the Sandman, an escaped convict whose molecular structure is destroyed in a particle accelerator. The freak accident gives him the ability to form and reform from piles of dust. While the Sandman sifts through the city streets robbing banks, Spidey must also contend with his onetime friend, Harry (James Franco), who has taken up where his father, the Green Goblin, left off. Harry chases Spider-Man down on his goblin glider, hurling pumpkin bombs. But Spider-Man's biggest battle is perhaps within himself, when he is ...
