| | Grins Edge Burnt Circus CD Grins Edge Discography of CDs
Formed by Jared Mullins (guitars, drums, vocals) and Joe Brooks (bass, vocals, piano) in 2007, Grin's Edge is not your typical modern rock band. They're a multi-instrumentalist trio. How's that for unique? This album displays the piano work of Joe (who is also the bass player) and Jared's drumming (who is also the guitarist and singer.) Convinced yet? Ever wonder where the name "Grin's Edge" came from? In 2006, Jared was jamming with some other musicians when he came across a line in Macbeth: "there's daggers behind men's smiles." "Smiles" was changed to "grin's," "daggers" was changed to "edge" and...voila! a band name!So about the album...It features 11 tracks all of which were recorded, mixed, and mastered in Southern California. (Greg Lurssen at Lurssen Mastering of "O Brother Where Art Thou" fame mastered the cd.) Every song is musically diverse. "Powertooth" leans toward folk. "Aubrey Sky" is good riff-rock. "A Penny Gone" features mandolin etc. etc. If you like music with crafty drum-work, heavy yet tasty guitar licks and solos and soulful bass-work, then this is the album for you! Burnt Circus music CDs
$17.75 From two seemingly opposite ends of the world (race, gender, education) come 2 American musicians with one global musical vision. What starts out a simple ideal – to combine all of the music that one loves without adhering to stylistic guidelines or parameters – becomes increasingly difficult in a world where “music” is not Music unless easily categorized, classified and/or compartmentalized. While Tower Records and stores like it may sooner or later become things of the past, we generally still try to put artists and their music in a neat little box in our minds. We store that box in Aisle 5 under a sign that reads “JAZZ” or “CLASSICAL” or “ROCK” or “FOLK” or perhaps in that other room. You know the one that is separated from the rest of the store by glass doors and a sign that reads “WORLD”. Brazz Tree is a band that combines all of the aforementioned elements in a sometimes cacophonous, sometimes very straightforward, always elegant, but also sometimes swooping around and hitting you in the back of the head sort of way. Says Brad Hammonds (co-founder and guitarist), “We make the music that we want to hear on the ...

$12.69 Al was born in Baltimore, Maryland but doesn't remember much of it as by the time he was five years old his folks moved to New York City.Al's father was a member of the first black Do Wop group, The Orioles with lead singer Sonny Til, Alex Sharp - First Tenor, George Nelson - Baritone, Johnny Reed - Bass and Tommy Gaither - Second Tenor. They were managed by Deborah Chessler and had many hits including "What are u doing New years Eve" and "Barbara Lee" to name a few. The Orioles are now part of the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame".It didn't take Al long to get involved with his own group called The Shamrocks (Al throws his head back in laughter at the recollection of their name - one helluva name for a Black Soul and R&B group!Al first got involved in the British music scene when he was stationed at R.A.F. Upper Heyford. Al and his G.I. based band called The Afro-Dimensions participated and won a Blues and Soul competition sponsored by Blues and Soul Magazine around 1972. The first prize was a recording contract with a London based record company Jay Boy Records. Al wrote both sides of the single - A-side "Give it away" and B-side ballad "Just because" which more than established Al as a singer/songwriter and member of the P.R.S. Due to Airforce commitments the group disbanded.Al was then contracted to London management and managed by David Vaughan the son of singer/performer/actor Frankie Vaughan. Al and David began to write together as well and through Davids many connections had songs published by Bill Martin's Publishing Company a highly respected publisher. One song "Whatever goes around, comes around" was covered by 70's diva Marsha Hines and a Canadian group "Mighty Pope".Al at this stage had established himself as a songwriter of high calibre and begun developing as a Soul artist and session musician. At this time Al met Peter Shelly who himself had success with "Love me, love my dog" and Peter produced many hits for Alvin Stardust. Peter took Al under his wing and they became a songwriting team with the main objective ...
