Kerry Politzer started playing the piano at the age of four. She studied classical piano for fourteen years, attending the North Carolina School of the Arts and summer programs at Tanglewood and Interlochen. She entered the New England Conservatory of Music with the intention of continuing her classical studies, but fell in love with jazz after attending a concert in Keller Hall. She studied with jazz guru Charlie Banacos, who inspired her to begin composing, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano Performance. In 1996, Kerry was one of six finalists in the American Pianists Association's 3rd Biennial Jazz Piano Competition. Half of the contestants were from New York City, so she decided to try her luck there. She soon discovered a brand-new love, Brazilian music, which began to inform her jazz compositions. Her composition Rhodes Rage won Third Prize, Jazz Category in the 2005 International Songwriting Competition. Her composition "Begin The Baiao" won Third Prize, Jazz Category in the 2000 Mid-Atlantic Song Competition and an Honorable Mention in the 2000 John Lennon Songwriting Competition. In May of both 2003 and 2005, Kerry attended the Banff Jazz Workshop, performing original music in master classes, shows and concerts. Kerry’s debut CD, "Yearning", which received four stars from All Music Guide, was released by CAP Records in 2001. The title track, "Yearning," is also featured on "Sax And The City: Musical Contributions From New York's Best Women Jazz Instrumentalists" (Apria Records, 2004). Kerry released two more CDs, "Watercolor" (2002) and "Labyrinth" (2005), on her own Polisonic label. "Labyrinth" was a finalist for Best Jazz Album in the 2007 Independent Music Awards. In the past year, Kerry has taken a musical detour from her instrumental jazz roots. After participating in workshops held by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, she has been inspired to write songs with lyrics. Her fourth album, "You Took Me In," features these new songs with a full band including Lonnie Plaxico (Cassandra Wilson, Nellie McKay) and George Colligan, better known as a pianist, on trumpet, drums and synthesizer. | | Daughtry Leave This Town CD (2009)
You Took Me In CD music
$15.45 When he was recording his debut album in 2006, Chris Daughtry didn't have the time to assemble the real rock band he so desperately wanted to have, so it appeared under the band name Daughtry without featuring any of the musicians who later became part of the group. That's not the case with LEAVE THIS TOWN, Daughtry's second record: all five members are glowering on the album cover, floating like specters over an abandoned Californian street. The five rockers serve as visual evidence that Daughtry is a band, not a person, and such reminders may be necessary because LEAVE THIS TOWN doesn't differ much in feel or form from DAUGHTRY. Overall, LEAVE THIS TOWN isn't quite as studio ...

You Took Me In songs
$21.55 Oscar Marcelo Aleman, singer, dancer, entertainer, and guitarist extraordinaire, was born in Northern Argentina on February 20, 1909. At the age of six, he was dancing and singing with his family's folk ensemble, the Moreria Sextet. By the age of ten, after his mother had died and father had comitted suicide, he found himself an orphan working sporadically as a dancer and musician on the streets of Santos. In 1924 Oscar met and began working with Brazilian guitarist Gaston Bueno Lobo. The duo was signed to the prestigious Argentine Victor label and performed under the name Los Lobos. On occasion, they would add violinist Eleven Verdure and recorded under the name Trio Victor. In the 1930's, having discovered American Jazz via Eddy Lang and Joe Venuti, Oscar moved to Paris where he was immediately hired by Josephine Baker to lead her band, the Baker Boys at the Cafe de Paris. This provided him an incredible opportunity to play regularly with American Jazz musicians who would ...
