Amy Frederick began studying the piano when she was six years old. The youngest of four children, she learned how to read notes in the Classical style while secretly harboring fantasies of being a songwriter in a rock and roll band. Her first recording experience was singing Beatles songs into a portable cassette player at age seven. "She loves you yeah, yeah, yeah!" Along with the Beatles her early musical influences were of a wide range considering the differences in age of her family members. As a result she gave equal attention to artists such as James Taylor, Dolly Parton, Paul Simon, Kitty Wells, Carole King, Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass, Billy Joel, Sonny James, Harry Nilsson, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan and the Lawrence Welk show! It should come as no surprise that her career path has been equally unpredictable. Her first employment as a pianist was during the seventh grade, accompanying a production for a local church. For the next few years she gathered as much experience as possible accompanying school choirs, local productions of Broadway shows, solo singers and instrumentalists.
