Time Traveler's Wife Reviews: 4 stars out of 5 -- "Combining elements of sweepingly romantic time travel movies like SOMETHERE IN TIME and the supernatural swoon of GHOST, this first-rate and spellbinding drama is out to prove true love can overcome any obstacle..."-- Pete Hammond, Box Office "McAdams draws on the romantic-tearjerker chops she displayed to captivating effect in THE NOTEBOOK..."-- Justin Chang, Variety "THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE is built as a game that the audience learns to play....We accept the film's mixture of the playful and the slightly arbitrary; we become romantic time travelers too..."-- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly "[A] bittersweet love story. Time Traveler's Wife film
$18.49 Hot-tempered, self-centered, part-Irish Southern beauty Scarlett O'Hara, played to the teeth by Vivien Leigh, loves the gentlemanly Ashley Wilkes (Leslie Howard). Smug, rebellious, honest, blockade-running profiteer Rhett Butler, portrayed gracefully and naturally by Clark Gable, loves Scarlett. Ashley, who is also in love with Scarlett, marries his genteel cousin Melanie (Olivia de Havilland) because he believes that their quiet similarities will create a better marriage than Scarlett's passion. Meanwhile, sparks fly between Rhett and Scarlett at their first encounter and continue throughout Scarlett's first two marriages. Scarlett and Rhett finally wed, but Scarlett continues to pine for her beloved Ashley. Set against the Civil War and Southern Reconstruction, this tragic love quadrangle offers the burning of Atlanta and fields of wounded Confederates as part of its lush scenery. Meticulous backdrops, glorious sunsets, numerous silhouettes, and the ultrasaturated Technicolor film create a hyperreal vision. The romantic ...

Time Traveler's Wife DVD
This dark and eery romantic thriller, set against the barren wasteland of industrial Madrid, stars Iciar Bollain as Leo, a homeless woman struggling to come to terms with her painful past. Leo is a tough loner, a member of Madrid's forgotten underclass, who must struggle to keep herself fed and clothed. While working for a recycling company, disguised as a boy, Leo meets Salva (Javier Batanero), a security guard, who takes pity on the impoverished young woman. But, as Leo and Salva begin an erotic liaison, Leo's past begins to spiral out of control, and Salva is drawn into the mysterious woman's life. The death of her mother prompts Leo to take action against the man who she blames for her mother's demise, Gabo (Valeri Yerlinski). He is a wrestling coach whose complicated past with Leo and her mother is at the core of Leo's painful inability to move on with her life. She is both repulsed and attracted to Gabo, who was once a father figure and lover for the young woman in a revealing and complicated triangle of lust and revenge. In order to begin a new romance with Salva, Leo demands that he help her exorcise the haunting demons of her past. Salva, overwhelmed by his consuming desire for Leo, is willing to do whatever it takes to free her from the haunting realities of her childhood betrayal. Bollain delivers a grim and powerful performance as the tortured woman trapped in her past. LEO is a disturbing glimpse of modern Madrid and it's inhabitants, masterfully executed by acclaimed director José Luis Borau.

Time Traveler's Wife movie DVD
With SECRET SUNSHINE, South Korean director Lee Chang-dong (PEPPERMINT CANDY, OASIS) proves that he is one of the world's most accomplished directors. His latest film is a sprawling tale of personal transformation after grief shatters the life of an innocent woman. Jeon Do-yeon, who deservedly won the Best Actress prize at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, plays Shin-ae, a widow who has decided to move to her late husband's hometown of Miryang (which stands for "Secret Sunshine") with her young son, Jun. Upon arriving, she meets an ordinary mechanic, Kim Jong-chan (played by Korean superstar Song Kang-ho), who clearly takes a shine to her. Shin-ae finds difficulty acclimating to her new environment, but after opening a piano academy she begins to settle into life in the small town. Then tragedy strikes once again, further derailing her attempts to conquer her loneliness and grief. Her previous disdain for religion is shattered one day at a church service, setting her on a spiritual journey that seemed incomprehensible just weeks before.
SECRET SUNSHINE is an ambitious film that feels like several movies in one. Do-yeon delivers one of the finest performances of recent memory, covering the gamut of human emotions with seeming effortlessness. Kang-ho, who is one of South Korea's most recognizable stars (THE HOST, SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE), gleefully embraces his role as an Everyman, providing depth in what could have otherwise been a forgettable role. Ultimately, ...
| | Frost/Nixon - Original Watergate Interviews DVD (1977) Full Frame
Time Traveler's Wife video
$16.25 The pungent interview between British TV host David Frost and former President Richard Nixon in 1977 was a groundbreaking moment in American politics. Assembled from over 28 hours of footage, this candid conversation--which some have compared to a boxing match--ended with the weary, impeached leader accepting guilt for the Watergate scandal. The famed tête-à-tête became the basis for the play FROST/NIXON, in turn adapted into a movie directed by Ron Howard.
This program, culled from the over 28 hours of interview footage between Sir David Frost and U.S. President Richard M. Nixon, was originally broadcast in May of 1977. Never before, nor since, has a U.S. President been so candid on camera.Even more intriguing is the fact that Nixon agreed to appear on camera with no pre-interview preparation or screening of questions. The most famous of this series of interviews is in the final segment that focused solely on ...
