| | Scorpions Animal Magnetism CD (1980)
Hymns To Steel CD music
$6.49 Although Animal Magnetism contains such classic songs as "The Zoo" and "Make It Real," the album is somewhat disappointing when compared to its predecessor, Lovedrive. The well-written songs on this album end up saving it from total disaster, and it's obvious the band wasn't sure what to exactly put on this record -- many of the songs sound like the work of some other rock group and simply don't blend together as they should. Singer Klaus Meine, known for his excellent vocal performances, sounds bored and just plain overshadowed. Although far from bad, Animal Magnetism isn't ...
| | Dethklok Metalocalypse: Dethalbum II CDs (2009) Bonus DVD; Deluxe Edition
Hymns To Steel music CDs
$15.55 Brendon Small and Gene Hoglan proved their animated death metal band Dethklok had the chops to rock out like a living, breathing group on THE DETHALBUM. On DETHALBUM II, Small and Hoglan make Dethklok sound more like a real band than ever before--for better and worse. Without a doubt, these songs rock hard. The production is tighter and the attack is even heavier than it was on the first album, but surprisingly, that ends up being a slight weakness rather than a strength. What made THE DETHALBUM special was that the songs were funny, but not jokey; tried and true metal fans could appreciate the humor that was mixed into the heaviness, while the wit drew in metal neophytes. But on DETHALBUM II, Small and Hoglan have gotten so good at lovingly embodying metal clichés that the songs aren't as overtly funny or catchy as they were on the first album. Some tracks are almost indistinguishable from music ...

| | Slayer God Hates Us All CD (2001)
Hymns To Steel album
$8.99 "Disciple" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Don't blink. Otherwise, Slayer's eighth studio release will scoot right by at hyper-speed. In fact, morbid images and jackhammer guitar riffs are the only traces that GOD HATES US ALL leaves behind on its demolition path. Heavy, indeed. If lead screamer Tom Araya slows down just for a second, dark mantras such as "I won't be force-fed prophecy" and "My hate is contagious" become frighteningly intelligible. Slayer might not be pretty, but no one can accuse the band of campiness--this is as real (and scary) as it gets.
GOD HATES US ALL is ...
| | Katatonia Great Cold Distance CD (2006)
Hymns To Steel CD music
$16.19 Coming three full years after 2003's Viva Emptiness, The Great Cold Distance continues the trend toward the mainstream that Katatonia began with that album. Singer Jonas Renske -- who apparently lost his ability to do the now-clichéd Cookie Monster vocals some years ago due to medical problems -- has refined his voice into a much smoother and, surprisingly, more powerful ...

| | Sweet Distortion Missing Link CD (2006)
Hymns To Steel album
$11.29 Sweet Distortion is a new heavy rock band with mass appeal from the cold land of Montreal, Quebec/Canada.We touch a range of different ALL-METAL styles. People have linked us to bands such as Pantera, Metallica, and creative nu metal like System Of A Down and Slipknot. The songs on our first album, MISSING LINK, come in different shades of aggression and are not simply repeats of the same all over. The vocals are harsh but "clean", the musicianship intense and as professional as they come. Frequent comments are that people will play the CD over and over again, and that the songs really stick in their heads. The album is full BROADCAST QUALITY. It was recorded at Cyberlogy studio, who has produced gold and platinum record artist K-Maro (French R’n’B). Our live shows are pretty much over the top and highly energetic. In the studio we're meticulous and precise. Our gigs are hell raising and stage storming aggression!!*** On our www.sweetdistortion.com website, you'll find videos of us LIVE in the "Downloads" ...
| | Adam Pringle Standing Through Wednesday CD (2007)
Hymns To Steel CD music
$10.65 Adam's relationship with music was ingrained in him at a young age, with his parents opening a music store in St. Louis, Michigan when he was four years old. Being exposed to old blues and ragtime, in addition to artists like Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis, only helped to encourage his piano playing at a young age. It was after his first performance in a talent show, when hearing the roar of the crowd, that he realized that music was to be his calling. While studying music in college, Adam met drummer Brian V. in the school's jazz band, where they recognized a love of music in one another. After many performances together in Minnesota, Brian decided to join the Army. This prompted Adam to begin a flourishing solo career, performing with a rock band all over Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan for four years. In January of 2006, Adam and Brian reunited, and were joined by guitarist Chase Jackson and bassist Ian Flaherty. They fused their musical backgrounds to create a fresh new sound, and have since been performing locally in Grand Rapids and Michigan, most recently performing with the Gin Blossoms at the Intersection. They have tentative plans to rock faces off during a Midwest college tour.Adam also takes the stage every week in Grand Rapids and throughout the country, garnering a loyal fan base along the way that is cultivated through not just his stage show, but also various podcasts, radio play, and the world wide web, with ...
