Phoenix Arizonas SIGMA has covered a lot of punk-rock grounds since their inception only two an a half short years ago. Stars and Fights, the title of the band's debut full-length album has captured the hearts of thousands like a velvet glove with brass knuckles. Brutal, political and sophisticated at the same time. SIGMA has harnessed their talent into creating one of the most promising underground bands in recent memory. Their musical influences are heavily weighted in their love for all types of styles and genres such as bands like Fugazi, Death By Stereo, Anti-Flag, Sick Of It All, Husker Du, Hatebreed, and the list goes on. Since 2003, SIGMA have performed many shows both local and nationwide. Producing the unique blend in sounds of punk-metal, channeled by an unforgettable member switch in lead vocals/guitars and drums. Two shows/performances in one band. Fronted by Jeff Harder and Keith Wallace who sets a passion and flair that has never existed known to man. Putting the rhythm to your neighborhood is Jon Kabir on bass that flips and wails like a demented psychopath that lies behind his dark eyes and black hair. Moving quickly up the ranks of opening acts to headlining band, in the beginning of the year 2005 SIGMA was described as The Hardest Working punk band in Arizona. Sigma has shared stages with many of todays well known and hottest bands as well as with legendary performers who have been a big influence on the band such as Conflict, Mad Caddies, River City Rebels, Total Chaos, Though Riot, Pipedown, The Code, The Soviettes, Antifreeze, Killradio, A Wilhelm Scream, Lower Class Brats, The Fight, Destruction Made Simple, Lostprophets, The Adolescents, Michale Graves, Narcoleptic Youth, 2005 Vans Warped Tour and the list goes on. SIGMA will unleash their arsenal of punk metal riffs and carefully crafted thought-provoking lyrics on society with their second full-length album release on May 1st 2006. Growing up in the small town of Farmington, New Mexico proved to be the best place for me to hone my creativity. I can remember making up songs and singing into my hairbrush microphone to John Denver well before I startedattending school. My parents encouraged imagination and creativity, so my two older brothers and I developed our talents in the arts.Music is powerful and a great communicator -- I was able to experience this firsthand singing in my church and at school functions. I listened to all kinds of music and had so many influences that it is hard to name who inspired me most. There are, however, a few standouts like Carole King,Fleetwood Mac, Eagles and gospel artists like Amy Grant, Steve Green, and Margaret Becker. I had their entire collections! After attending a few of their concerts, I knew I wanted to be a singer/songwriter. I started working in radio when I was fifteen and knew that if I really wanted to make it in the music business I needed to have a broad spectrum of education. I started saving money and recording my own music. I was able totour around the Four Corners, sing in churches, and sell my gospel projects. That is where I met some of my current friends. They encouraged me to move to Nashville. (That is the beauty of youth: the reckless abandon you posses often moves you into the place you need to be. )I had no idea that moving to Nashville was like climbing the Great Wall of China! I met some amazing people and started networking. I thought landing a publishing deal would be a piece of cake but soon found out there wereseveral thousand just like me and they were all vying for attention. But God kept confirming His gift for me by bringing people into my life at exactly the right time. I will never forget having the Sparrow Foundation give me aboost to get my songs out there -- I was able to get songs into the hands of artists like Allison Durham Speer and European artist Ralph Van Manen. Ralph recorded my first five co-writes on his Vessel of Weakness project. "Mysteryof Love" became a classic for him and has topped some of the European Christian charts (and New Zealand's, too).
