| I totally agree... I bought this when I first heard about it 'cause you know I was gettin' ready for Ozzfest, and I'm a diehard fan anyway, but it's a load of crap that not only did I not get the extra songs I got that little cardboard case too, what the crap? I love the music but come on, I don't have the money too buy every little thing that is put out. By Russell (Joshua, TX, USA) |
| wutz up with the cardboard sleeve...? ok i gotta say this is Ozzy's best album since "No More Tears" back in 1991. pure hard hitting heavy metal tracks cover this album. By Ben Dover (Auburn,Indiana) |
| nice... how thoughtful, how sweet, how nice of Ozzy’s record company to release this BARELY 6 MONTHS after the original release of the album…(I’m being sarcastic, just in case you were wondering…) they want people to keep buying CD’s and stop illegal downloading, and yet, they keep pulling off dirty tricks such as this one… give me a break!!! I’m all for supporting the artist (and while I don’t personally endorse downloading, as long as it’s legal it’s ok with me…) and whatever, but really…how do you think most fans who bought the CD back in May will feel seeing this? Or the guys who legally downloaded it ‘cos they thought they were getting exclusive tracks? Or even worse, the guys who got the imports at higher prices in order to get the extra tracks? Sure, the ULTRA/MEGA diehards with disposable income are not going to mind at all, and they are going to be glad, and they are going to sing praises, never mind the fact that they paid for 2 (or even 3, ‘cos I know a few freaks who download albums AND also buy the CD’s…) versions of the same thing… Well, here’s to 14 bucks of mine the record company is not gonna get…and also, I’m establishing a new policy: I won’t buy new CD’s for AT LEAST a year after they are released, in order to avoid being ripped off any further by those scumbags…yeah, I’m feeling pretty mad right now, and I have the funny feeling that I’m going to be mad for a while… I’m going to give Ozzy the benefit of the doubt at this time (“innocent until proven guilty”) and blame it on his record company, so my rating has nothing to do with the music, I’m just protesting the release…I just hope I don’t find out that this was another one of Sharon’s money making schemes, ‘cos I’m getting pretty tired of those, too… Peace to you all. | Make sure you don't own a copy already Make sure you don't own a copy of Black Rain already. I bought it in 2007 and beiing it was such a thin CD it got lost in the shuffle after a week or two. By djpaulaz (Phoenix, AZ) |

Metallica Death Magnetic CD (2008)
Black Rain album for sale In the five years between the two releases, Metallica seem to have gotten back in touch with the raw power of their classic period, with a little help from legendary producer Rick Rubin. One listen to the 10-minute epic "Suicide & Redemption" with its mix of raw rock ferocity and complex musical development should tell you the old Metallica's back in business. Long tracks with complex structures and intricate, speedy riffs abound. Most appealing for longtime fans may be the return to the frenzied guitar solos of yore. Rubin seems to have assisted the band on a path that successfully combines power, melodicism, and pure, unadulterated metal mania, over a sonic statement that definitively proves there's nothing over-the-hill about middle-aged metal.
The world at large got a fly-on-the-wall view of the creation of Metallica's 2003 album, ST. ANGER, via the documentary SOME KIND OF MONSTER, so we know they consciously tried to keep things contemporary at that time by avoiding fleet-fingered solos and eschewing the sound of the "old" Metallica. If that hoary old term "return to form" ever applied to a rock album, though, it's ANGER's follow-up, DEATH MAGNETIC.
Metallica: James Hetfield (vocals, guitar); Kirk Hammett (guitar); Robert Trujillo (bass guitar); Lars Ulrich (drums).

Kiss Lick It Up CD (1983)
Black Rain buy CD music Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (Sterling Sound, New York, New York).
September 18, 1983 is a day that will go down in Kisstory. It was then that Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and replacement members Vinnie Vincent and Eric Carr took off their signature makeup and revealed themselves on MTV. LICK IT UP was released, and a new chapter unfolded.
Using the same production team as CREATURES OF THE NIGHT, Michael James Jackson, Simmons and Stanley came up with the same bone crunching sound as CREATURES, but with a slightly more polished feel. "Exciter" kicks off the album with a machine gun riff, which leads into Gene Simmons proclaiming he's "Not For The Innocent". The title track was a modest hit in the U.S., faired better in the U.K. and made for quite an entertaining video. "All Hell's Breakin' Loose" is a gritty streetwise track where Paul Stanley actually raps! "And On The 8th Day" is a powerful anthem that closes an exciting album.
With Vinnie Vincent's expert guitar playing and songwriting abilities (he co-wrote 8 out of the 10 tracks) and Eric Carr's powerful backbeat, LICK IT UP proves that behind all the explosions and firebreathing, the band can deliver the goods musically.
Recorded at Right Track Studio and The Record Plant, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Robert V. Conte.
Producers: Gene Simmons, Michael James Jackson, Paul Stanley.
Kiss: Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Carr, Vinnie Vincent.
Engineers: Frank Filipetti, Rob Freeman.

Kiss Animalize CD (1984) Top Seller
Black Rain album for sale Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (Sterling Sound, New York, New York).
With personnel changes and neglect from a key member of the band, it's amazing ANIMALIZE turned out as well as it did. This record shows Kiss was able to rise above all the groups who copied a style of music that Kiss originated.
After LICK IT UP, "creative differences" pushed lead guitarist Vinnie Vincent out and speed demon Mark St. John in. Without missing a lick, St. John was able to fill Vincent's shoes admirably. Also around this time, Gene Simmons decides to try his hand at acting, starring in such films as "Runaway" and "Wanted Dead Or Alive". Thus, he is listed as Associate Producer but in reality had minimal input. Producer Paul Stanley did a fine job putting his own personal technical stamp on the album. Stanley sings on "I've Had Enough (Into The Fire)," a fast and furious track with motivational lyrics. He also fills in on bass for Simmons on both singles, "Heaven's On Fire" and "Thrills In The Night." Lyrically, Simmon's songs reflect where he was in the 80's with titles like "Burn Bitch Burn" and "Murder In High Heels".
Recorded at Right Track Studio, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Robert V. Conte.
Kiss: Paul Stanley, Mark St. John (vocals, guitar); Gene Simmons (vocals, bass); Eric Carr (drums).
Producers: Paul Stanley, Michael James Jackson.

Ace Frehley Frehley's Comet CD (1987)
Black Rain CD music In 1978, all four members of Kiss released solo albums simultaneously. Consensus among fans held that guitarist Ace Frehley's album was the most impressive of the four. Solo ambitions were what prompted Frehley to leave Kiss in the early '80s, but a serious car crash and recurring problems with drugs and drink postponed the release of 1987's FREHLEY'S COMET for a number of years. Joining Frehley in his new band were session bassist John Regan, Cheap Trick touring sideman Tod Howarth (guitar/vocals/keyboards), and drummer Anton Fig (of David Letterman's house band).
While FREHLEY'S COMET doesn't quite match up to Frehley's solo debut, it has proved to be his best post-Kiss solo outing. Like many other '70s rock artists who resurfaced in the '80s, Frehley tried to inject glossy pop into his metal instead of sticking with the straight-ahead raw rock of yore. Still, the album includes several highlights, such as the anthem "Rock Soldiers" (detailing Frehley's near-fatal car crash), "Into the Night," "Stranger in a Strange Land," and the album-closing instrumental "Fractured."
Personnel: Ace Frehley (vocals, guitar, background vocals); Tod Howarth (vocals, guitar, keyboards, background vocals); John Regan (bass guitar, background vocals); Anton Fig (drums, percussion).
Audio Mixers: Eddie Kramer; Scott Mabuchi.
