| | Sugarland Gold & Green CD (2009)
Best Of Charley Pride CD music
$12.35 Georgia's Sugarland rose to great heights in 2009 - their 2008 album LOVE ON THE INSIDE reached platinum status, they recorded a prime-time network television special called LIVE ON THE INSIDE, which was then released in numerous packages that all sold well, and the group has sold out live shows globally. Therefore it seems to make sense for the group to release yet another stop-gap before the year runs out in lieu of a new studio album. GOLD AND GREEN is a hybrid holiday recording. It contains ten tracks, ...
| | Darius Rucker Learn To Live CD (2008)
Best Of Charley Pride music CDs
$10.99 Although for the rest of his life, underinformed fans of 1990s pop will forever be calling Darius Rucker "Hootie," the former Hootie & the Blowfish singer-songwriter makes his solo debut with a perfectly credible take on mainstream contemporary Nashville country. The laid-back, largely acoustic folk-pop of Hootie & the Blowfish was never that far removed from contemporary country in the first place, so only the fact that Rucker is the first major African-American country star since the heyday of Charley Pride makes the stylistic crossover out ...

| | Bronn Journey Journey Home CD (2006)
Best Of Charley Pride songs
$20.19 Journey Home is a collection of songs from the Americana songbook. Songs I grew up singing. Songs that were sung in the car when cars were sold without radios. Each song transports me to a warm and fond place. I think of going to my grandmother's house or going for a Sunday drive when gas was 30 cents a gallon. Bring warmth and nostalgia to your CD player (of MP3 player)!Thirty-two years ago, a volunteer with the Seattle Public Schools placed a harp in Bronn's hands for the first time and began teaching the 11 year old boy how to play. He advanced rapidly, and soon moved on to study with harpist Edith Lundgren. By the time he was 16, he was performing professionally in fine hotels and restaurants in the Seattle area. After high school, Bronn was accepted to the School of Music at the University of Washington where he received instruction from Pamela Vokelek. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1985.Bronn's dazzling virtuosity and humorous approach to a seriously classical instrument have made him a favorite with concert goers. "Because of the experience of playing in ...
| | Imole Jumi's Spoken Cabaret CD (2007)
Best Of Charley Pride album
$25.29 IMOLE, Jumi's Spoken Cabaret is an innovative compilation of ten (10) inspirational tracks of ironic weaves of recitals, songs, poetry, word games, wit, metaphors and subtleties set to varying genres of music. Jumi sees poetry as a fascinating tool that gives expression to a passionate and unorthodox voice. She clearly feels very much a part of her audience and believes that in listening incisively they will find twists, turns and whimsies of our collective destiny food for inspired thought...A “proudly Nigerian” poet, vocalist and lyricist with a tender tough stripe of cultural louche and spiritual commentary, Jumi's artistic style is bold and imaginative with a conversational voice that sounds almost reticent. In Jumi's Spoken Cabaret, she maximizes this compelling and inimitable style to ride hot currents for the pain and pleasure of swooping around spiritual, pure, social, maternal and fragile subjects. Whilst doing this, she clings to images of reality that are firmly embedded in what she perceives to be the public’s consciousness, acknowledging issues people feel they are familiar with or can relate to, offering a speculative but entirely plausible view. Exposure to Yoruba griot sounds, classical forms of music plus a need for and hunger to express truth’s tale becomes tension released in distinct ways in each of the ten tracks on the CD. From deep sentiments to an indigenous groove set to a lush vocal background to epics of gratitude carrying a sensual earthiness, the entire production is a consolidation of international and traditional styles fused into a deeply personal approach.Reviews"Jumi’s voice is very rich and she enunciates her words with a passion that grabs you. Also very interesting is her use of metaphors in a very distinct way. “Like a rose bud romancing a hot summer sun, a seedling takes root to be conformed to the sun”. She does not try to come across like a follower of Chaucer and hence her work is delightfully very original – and sometimes very abstract in her choice of expression as seen in “Imole”. At some point, though, are certain expressions that that may throw off individuals who are new to poetry or not very cross-culturally aware. However, though one may be lost as to the meaning of certain rushed lines, there is always some clarification given as the poetry unfurls. The music is also in very good taste. Though good enough to be a distraction at certain points and might have been perfect if a tad lower in volume, it beautifully helps to paint pictures that skillfully capture the spoken words of this prolific poet. The album also captures a very strong African essence that is very refreshing, while having a diverse blend of music and poetry that does not allow the listener room for boredom. Overall, the album is a must-have for both budding and mature appreciators of the arts, and is a good addition to any music collection." J.Igbinovia “Imole is my album of the year and I listen to it everyday. ...
