Originally sprouting from the small town of Chipman, New Brunswick, Andrew Sisk's innate curiosity drew him to the soul of Canada's bigger cities. During his explorations of trail and territory, he penned his new stories as songs. After settling in Halifax, NS, he began recording his sentiments, and observations with the help of his old band mate, A.A. Wallace. From this point, the Share project emerged as a true passion for Sisk. Sisk sings of parking lots and open fields, cityscapes and dirt roads on his first album, Ukulele Tragic (2005). The 2006 sophomore release, Can Can Missile, was a personal experiment that detailed "the life flashing before your eyes" experience Sisk had after a serious car accident. Share has made several radio appearences, the highlights being a guest and performer on CKDU's radio cooking show Let's Get Baked in November 2005, a feature spot on CBC's the Vinyl Cafe, as well as several spots on CBC radio one's morning programs. He has developed a reputation for innovative songs with lyrics worth listening to. With the recent permanent addition of Kyle Cunjak on Acoustic Double Bass and Nick Cobham on Guitar Share is now a dynamic live band and has surpassed the realm of solo singer songwriter. Share has performed regularly and has developed a growing fan base in the Maritimes. They completed a cross Canada tour this past spring which promoted the second album, Can Can Missile, helping it chart on Campus radio stations across the country. Although Share's first album was a quiet acoustic folk album, the sophomore Can Can Missile was an experimental electro rock adventure. The third release, Pedestrian, is a mature settling between the two sounds that captures the beauty of the newly formed trio. Share Pedestrian Songs | 1. | The Great before |

$7.59 Widely regarded as one of the finest moments in a stellar recording career, ELI & THE THIRTEENTH CONFESSION was a bold, original amalgam of jazz, soul, folk, and rock. Nyro's freewheeling, open-ended arrangements were brought into sharp focus by her clear, gospel-derived singing and incisive, poetic lyrics. There is a strong spiritual undercurrent ...

| | Della Reese Amen!/What Do You Know About Love? CD (2008)
Pedestrian CD music
$13.59 This two-fer from Collectors' Choice Music gathers a pair of Della Reese's late-'50s long-players for the New York-based Jubilee imprint. Up first is Amen (1958) -- her third for the label and also her first to embrace a program of sacred selections. As apparent from her natural vocal command, the Detroit native had served a substantial tenure as a gospel singer. After leading the Olivet Baptist Church Choir, it was an invitation by the First Lady of Gospel, Mahalia Jackson -- to temporarily trade places with Jackson's ailing soprano soloist -- that led Reese to tour with the First Lady of Gospel briefly during the summer of 1944. Several years later, as a congregation member at New Liberty Baptist Church, Reese encountered the talents of Earnestine Rundless. The two formed the Meditation Singers and nearly a decade later -- for the Amen recordings -- the artist would be reunited with not only Rundless, but also daughter-in-law Laura Lee Newton. Interestingly, it was Newton who had replaced Reese in the Meditation Singers and the similarities can be heard, especially on the bright and optimistic "Jesus" as the two banter about lines in a call-and-response fashion. Producer and arranger Morty Palitz takes very few liberties, nor does he embellish the spiritual selections. Rather, he wisely maintained a hands-off approach and allowed Reese -- who is accompanied instrumentally by piano, organ, and the intermittent robust choir -- to organically unveil her inimitable magic. Among the standouts are the opening title track, "Jesus Will Answer Your Prayer" and "Rock a My Soul" -- both of which are rousing outlets for Reese and company -- as well as the considerably introspective "Last Mile of the Way," "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen," "I Know the Lord Has Laid His Hand on Me," and a thoroughly exalted cover of Sister Rosetta Tharpe's "Up Above My Head I Hear Music in the Air." By contrast, the Reg Owens directed and scored What Do You Know About Love? (1959) could not be more dissimilar. ...
