Izzy And Moe Movie Review Izzy And Moe DVD Izzy and Moe re-united two of the most beloved television performers, Jackie Gleason and Art Carney (The Honeymooners) in this made for television movie. Jackie and Art play the parts of Izzy Einstein and Moe Smith, two vaudeville performers-turned-prohibition agents in the 1920s. Mixing comedy with drama, they become two of the most effective agents in the battle against the bottle and when their success attracts the attention of the mob, the two vaudevillians must use all their wits to stay alive.
In their last performance together on the small screen, Gleason and Carney are at the top of their form. Director Jackie Cooper (Perry White in Superman II, Our Gang) plays it straight, letting the boys get the laughs.

$7.75 Paul Mazursky's HARRY AND TONTO is an offbeat comedy-drama with a subtle and remarkable central performance by Art Carney as Harry, a 72-year-old widower who takes off on a cross-country odyssey with his cat, Tonto, after he's evicted from his Manhattan apartment building. Along the way he visits his eldest daughter, Shirley (Ellen Burstyn), in Chicago and plans to meet up with his son, Eddie (Larry Hagman), in California. Harry's road trip is filled with small vignettes that remind him of where he's come from and where he's going. Inspired by the vitality of the many characters he comes across, he's left to ponder his own quiet life. Harry also remembers a past love when he meets up with Jessie (Geraldine Fitzgerald), an old girlfriend who used to be a vivacious ballet dancer but now lies senile in a nursing home. Among the gallery of other memorable characters he meets on the road are a young female hitchhiker, a hooker, and a down-on-his-luck Indian chief. Ultimately, Harry reaches the West Coast and finds that things are not quite as he planned, but at the end of the road, he remains deeply inspired by his new vision of life, ...

Izzy And Moe review
$10.49 In the days before home video, when access to anything but first-run Hollywood movies was limited to repertory houses and college film societies, Hal Ashby's HAROLD AND MAUDE achieved cult status and became a surprise hit. In a broad sense, the film is a simple love story about how opposites attract--only, this time around, he's 19 and she's 79. Harold, played with deadpan humor by Bud Cort (M*A*S*H), is under extreme pressure from his overbearing mother, Mrs. Chasen (Vivian Pickles, in a performance that is a sheer delight), to enter the dating world. Unfortunately, the shy and morose Harold would rather spend his time attending the funerals of complete strangers. It is at one of these where he meets Maude (Ruth Gordon), who has the spunk and energy of a teenager. Maude is convinced that Harold needs to come out of his shell and enjoy life, so she brings him into hers.
The taboo relationship between Harold and Maude, created by screenwriter Colin Higgins, embodied the spirit of an experimental generation guided by the mantra "If it feels good, do it." The love ...

$14.75 The winner of six Hong Kong Film Awards, and China's official Academy Award entry in 2005, Peter Chan's PERHAPS LOVE is a lush and romantic musical melodrama in the tradition of CABARET or, more recently, MOULIN ROUGE. Takeshi Kaneshiro (HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS) plays Lin, a young actor, who has been given a part in a musical film where he must co-star with the woman who broke his heart years before when she left him for a famous director, the same director who is making the film. Further complicating the love-triangle story is the ironic fact that the film within the film is also about a love triangle. Using this ingenious plot device allows Chan to include numerous stylish dance and music ...
