2007 album from the successful UK girl-group produced by long-standing collaborators Xenomania. Tangled Up is the girls' fifth album overall. The high-octane rush of `Sexy! No No No!', the album's first single, has already become a 21st Century Pop classic. `I Can't Speak French' sounds like a contemporary take on the classic girl-groups of yester-year while the famous Girls Aloud attitude is present in force on `Blackjack' and `Fling' which deliver the girls in full-on raucous mode, synths, bass and sassy lyrics turned up to the maximum. 12 tracks. | | Lady Gaga Fame CD (2008)
Tangled Up album
$16.29 Import pressing of the debut album from the New York singer. On The Fame, it's as if Gaga took two parts Dance-Pop, one part Electro-Pop, and one part Rock with a splash of Disco and burlesque and generously poured it into the figurative martini glasses of the world in an effort to get everyone drunk with her Fame. 'The Fame is about how anyone can feel famous,' she explains. 'Pop culture is art. It doesn't make you cool to hate pop culture, so I embraced it and you hear it all over The Fame. But, it's a sharable fame. I want to invite you all to the party. I want people to feel a part of this lifestyle.' Universal. 2008.
The times were crying out for a pop star like Lady GaGa -- a self-styled, self-made shooting star, one who mocked the tabloid digital age while still wanting to wallow in it -- and one who's smart enough to pull it all off, too. That self-awareness and satire were absent in the pop of the new millennium, where even the best of the lot operated only on one level, which may be why Lady GaGa turned into such a sensation in 2009: everybody was thirsty for music like this, music for and about their lives, both real and virtual. To a certain extent, the reaction to The Fame may have been a little too enthusiastic, with ...

| | Big Sandy Swingin' West CD (1995)
Tangled Up music CDs
$10.69 Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys: Big Sandy (vocals, acoustic guitar); Ashley Kingman (guitar); Lee Jeffriess (steel guitar); Wally Hersom (bass fiddle); Bobby Trimble (drums).
All songs written by Robert Williams except "Let Me In There, Baby" (A. Copeland/H. Dickenson), "Why Do You Have To Torture Me?" (W. Hersom), "Murphy's Law" (Lee Jeffriess) and "A Healer Like Time" (H. Cochran).
The follow-up to a strong 1994 debut, Swingin' West continues the Western swing and rockin' hillbilly assault that first endeared the California-based Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys to fans and critics alike. While many rockabilly outfits derive their sound primarily from artists from the 1950s, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys are a more accurate take on the style, venturing back into the '30 and '40s to tap the influences for legends such as Elvis Presley and Gene Vincent. With the lead guitar/steel guitar combination of Ashley Kingman and Lee Jeffriess ...

Tangled Up songs
$9.55 On its eponymous debut EP for Ace Fu, Philadelphia's Soundtrak proves quite adept at the kind of heartfelt, yet oddly standoffish sound favored by types like Buffseeds -- it's music that reads up on Brit-pop and late-'80s college rock, then wraps choice elements from those studies in a fashionable new coat. Soundtrak even ...
| | Chris Sohre Makria CD (2000)
Tangled Up album
$13.19 ALBUM DESCRIPTION Makria is Greek for 'far and beyond'. Much of the album was recorded in Thessaloniki, Greece and London, U.K., weaving Middle Eastern melodies and African rhythms around Sohre's playful blend of eclecticism. She speaks through a myriad of instruments: guitar, piano, accordion, flute, clarinet, harmonium, organ, percussion and vocals, while also sprinkling natural sound effects into some of the themes, inviting you to go on a visual journey through exotic scenery before returning home to an intimate and personal final song. BAND MEMBERS Simon McCarty (percussion), Dimitris Kakos (bass), Nikos Tourbis (drums and percussion) and Carl Dexter (guitar, contrabass and weird effects) form the nucleus around Sohre, with guest musicians, Jim McCarty (The Yardbirds - percussion) and Karen Gheorghiu (Mothers of Invention - English horn) showcased on several cuts. Hurdy gurdy, cello, saz, various world percussion instruments and natural sound effects, such as the popular market in Thessaloniki or thermal hot springs in Langadas, are also woven into the selections. BIO Many reviewers find it difficult to categorize Sohre's eclectic style, yet some have compared her to artists such as Jane Siberry, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Pink Floyd or Grace Slick. As producer and engineer, Chris operates her own record label and recording studio, Fleeting Echoes, giving her more freedom and control over the technical environment of artistic endeavours. She certainly does not fit the 'hey, look at me!' performance artist stereotype, and stands out as something of a pleasant anomaly. Her allure stems from both an open personal and musical style that allows a kind of participatory freedom on the part of fellow musicians and listeners alike. This music is anti-commercialism at its best, and reflects Sohre's willful and sometimes edgy determinism to make music for its own sake, and on her own terms. The result is music with a certain immediacy, intimacy, and often 'other-worldly' quality. In a live broadcast on ET3 Television (Europe), Chris was recently featured as upcoming new artist. Expressing her desire to play in natural settings, ...
