The special effects of stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen are legendary, most notably in the scene in which flying saucers attack the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. Released theatrically in New York City August 1, 1956.

Its about time!!!!
We have all seen the B+W version and those incredible saucers.
Now at last you can enjoy this all over again.
This is a classic.
We need the Thing from Another World colorized also. I have a VHS of it and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, both colorized , and they are BETTER than the original B+W claasic.
Watch this movie and look for more colorized sci-fi films...Watch the Skies.

If you loved the black and white version this one will blow your socks off. It is better in color well acted and ground breaking special effects for there day. Enjoy and remember when it was made they were breaking ground for us all.

I am not a fan of the colorization process, because I am an old school/ b&w/mono/hi-fi lover, and thrive on the mood that is created by these original technologies. Frankly, I wouldn't have purchased this product if the b&w version wasn't included. But, when I heard Ray Harryhausen explain, in the commentary, all the reasons why he believes in revamping some of these films, I was sold. As far as I'm concerned, this film, along with all the others he's worked on, are pretty much HIS films, and if he believes the fans should also see them in color, I'm all about it. Packed with extra features, including a very entertaining and revealing commentary (you will not believe what they used for the sound of the saucers), and an interview with Joan Taylor, this DVD is a must-buy for any fan of this genre.

I've been trying to get a copy of this movie for ages.I first saw this movie when I was about 13 and it blew me away. Now 38 years later I have been able to relive that experience thanks to CD Universe.

RAY HARRYHAUSEN'S MASTERPIECE
DYNAMATION made this movie an epic sci-fi.It´s very well-done,the acting good enough,the story well-written,in the context of the cold war.Its B&W picture was superbly restored,crisp,seemingly a brand-new movie.MAGNIFICENT!The 'flying saucers' don't seem to be hanged by any wires(they actually were)...Next to WAR OF THE WORLDS,the best sci-fi movie of all time!
