Who's Next album for sale Product Description

Who's Next album for sale by Who was released May 08, 2007 on the Polydor label. Recorded between 1968 & 1971. Who's Next buy CD music Includes liner notes by Pete Townshend, John Atkins, and Chris Charlesworth. Though Pete Townshend was originally unhappy with WHO'S NEXT, it was quickly welcomed by critics and fans, becoming one of the most celebrated titles in their enduring catalog. His frustrations boiled down to the album being a compromised version of a larger work he'd envisioned, LIFEHOUSE, which proved too unwieldy to be realized. Who's Next CD music contains a single disc.   ...See Full Description

Absolutely Essential Rock
Who's Next is a genuine candidate for best rock album ever. Pete Townshend's intelligent use of synths was a major innovation in 1971, but the songs are timeless due to their power, intelligence, grace, and superb performances. Disc one of this deluxe edition presents the original album, plus six alternate recordings, including the terrific "Pure and Easy" Disc two adds fourteen songs from the "Lifehouse" concert in 1971, performed at the height of the Who's career. The live CD isn't as powerful as Live at Leeds, but does contain very excellent, intimate performances in front of an invited crowd of only a few hundred fans. As terrific as this release is, it is amazing that it could have been made even better by including all of the songs from the original "Lifehouse" concept album.

Always a Classic...2nd disc not too amazing>
Who's Next will always be a classic album, and some of the added bonus tracks are great... (leslie west in particular!!!)... and the 2nd live album has some good material on it as well, however, it is not the who at their greatest moments.... the have performed quite a bit better elsewhere.... i enjoy listening to it all though... not a bad purchase for the extra disc.

In the late 70's, Rolling Stone magazine conducted a survey and found that most people judged "Who's Next" as the greatest rock album every recorded. I heartily agree. It was and is the best rock album ever recorded.

Classic Album, Shoddy Repackage
After the Deluxe Edition of "Sings My Generation" I was expecting another revelation in the sound quality. I can't tell any difference from the previous remaster. In fact, the cymbals sound muffled in comparison. The bonus tracks were better on the previous issue, and created a better picture of the Lifehouse concept. The live second disc seems like a cop-out. The liner notes are basically copied from the last remaster. I believe they could have done much more with this issue, as this is one of the all-time best albums ever released. Skip this and get the single disc remaster.

From Salvage Job To Success
The Who's best album. I believe it to be better than "Tommy" Its success and historical import is even more impressive considering it was salvaged from the ill-fated conceptual "Lifehouse" project... which was a work of sheer genius that was just too hard to digest in the late 1970/early 1971 time frame. All of the songs are excellent and I would have loved to have seen "Who's Next" released as a two-record set. After all, some of the tracks later showed up as singles releases, on the "Odds and Sods" compilation and two were reworked into the "Quadrophenia" concept. The musicianship was superb: Pete Townshend's guitar playing seemed enhanced by his keyboard work on such classics as "Baba O'Reilly" and "Won't Get Fooled Again", John Entwistle's bass and horn work were impressive (his sole songwriting contribution, "My Wife" was hilarious), Roger Daltrey delivered a fine vocal performance, and Keith Moon really cut loose with his drumming. The album cover photo, presenting the band in a desert-like environment, was extremely apropos to the "wasteland" that was described in "Baba O'Reilly" and central to "Lifehouse"'s pivotal theme. An essential buy; this is art at its loftiest zenith.
