In the Christmas Spirit album by Booker T & The MG's was released Dec 19, 2000 on the Sundazed label. Perhaps IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT should have been credited to Booker T. In the Christmas Spirit music CDs WITH the M.G. s, as Booker T. In the Christmas Spirit songs Jones carries the melodies as the band plays seasonal favorites. In the Christmas Spirit album Fortunately, he's a great player-more than up to the task-and the M.G. s display their usual, near-telepathic interplay with him. In the Christmas Spirit CD music On "Jingle Bells," Jones casts the tune above a bass and drum groove lifted from the Supremes' "You Can't Hurry Love." The solo sections spin off walking blues riffs, as Jones does his best Jimmy Smith impression. "White Christmas" is done in a gospel style, with Jones playing piano as well as organ. Guitarist Steve Cropper gets some of his most serious licks on "Silver Bells," which chugs along in the manner of the band's later hit "Time Is Tight." Fantastic album. and Fantastic cd
I purchased the album back in the 70's. It was my favorite Christmas album. I had played it so much over the years, that it had gotten some scratcy areas, causing the quality not to be as good. Thanks for allowing me to find it on CD. I will definitely play it often during this season. Thanks for being there. Stacy Lee
