Fly on the Wall album Product Description
This is a Hyper CD, which contains regular audio tracks and also provides a link to the artist's website with the help of a web browser. AC/DC remained popular amongst metalheads in the mid '80s, but the commercial disappointment of albums like 1983's FLICK OF THE SWITCH showed that the pop audience who discovered the band with 1980's mammoth seller BACK IN BLACK was losing interest. Instead of radically altering its sound like many other hard rock bands of the era did after weak-selling albums, AC/DC admirably stuck to its guns and continued in a bluesy hard rock direction with 1985's FLY ON THE WALL. While the album didn't exactly catapult the band back to the top of the charts, it did sell more copies than its predecessor. The album also marked the band's first studio recording with new drummer Simon Wright. FLY ON THE WALL's highlights include "Sink the Pink" and "Shake Your Foundations," a track that would be included just one year later on WHO MADE WHO, a soundtrack to Stephen King's movie MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE. ...See Full Description

| A sadly unappreciated masterpiece! If you want to discover some of the most amazingly crunchy riffs that Malcolm Young ever laid down on record, buy this CD! If you want to hear some of the most soul-filled, frenetically rockin' Angus Young solos ever, buy this CD! Btw, forget the whining naysayers, purists, and the fan boys who complain about the mix of Brian Johnson's vocals on this album. They are wrong and they will never be able to understand why this album is so great. Not only does Fly On The Wall have some of the raunchiest (and best) lyrics that Johnson ever wrote, the fact is that his vocals sound dirty, mean and gritty and that's exactly the way the Young brothers wanted it. Take my advice, buy Fly On The Wall today in time to enjoy it for the rest of your life! You won't be sorry... By jontalisman (http://bon-scott.org) This review is for a different format. |
| Brians vocals wreck it for me This is a very good album Songs like the title track, Shake your Foundations, Danger, First Blood, Sink the Pink etc are top songs! The problem is Brian Johnsons vocals are no where near the quality on Back in Black and For those About to Rock and this album falls a bit because of that. | A Weak Heavy Metal Album Fly on the Wall was produced by the band themselves to achieve a raw and heavier sound, but the weak, generic songs pale in comparison to their classic work. Most of the tunes are forgettable filler that make for a rather disappointing album. This is arguably the band's weakest effort that is made worse by the poor mixing of Brian Johnson's vocals. His voice sounds distant and buried behind the band's playing. However, the hard and heavy sound of Fly on the Wall makes it an interesting listen for heavy metal fans, since this album contains probably the hardest rock AC/DC ever recorded. The first half of the album is stronger than the second half. The title track is a true heavy metal song, complete with the Young brothers blasting guitars and Johnson's hard-edged, screeching vocals. Despite the weak songs, Fly on the Wall is an album full of raw energy that should satisfy those who like their rock hard and heavy.
