| | Human Beast, Vol. One CD Human Beast Discography of CDs
The music of this young Edinburgh trio was described in 1969 as "electro-flagellation," a phrase that aptly describes their vicious, Eastern-inflected guitar lines, pounding bass and frenetic percussion. Taped in a single twelve-hour stint in London that December and released in 1970 on Decca, their sole album stands as one of the most distinctive and unsettling pieces of rock music ever recorded. Issued here with their full participation, their story -- an enigma for decades -- is finally told for the first time in an accompanying 16-page booklet, packed with previously-unseen photographs, making it an essential purchase for all fans of heavy psychedelic rock and roll.

Human Beast, Vol. One album
$13.59 H.P. Lovecraft's two self-titled albums are collected onto one disc that traces the band's development from a second-string psych band to a darker, proto-prog rock outfit. Despite some dated tracks on the first album and a slight lack of focus on the second, songs like "Wayfaring Stranger," "Time Machine," and "At the Mountains of Madness" showcase the unique harmonies and arrangments that made H.P. Lovecraft one of the most enduring cult psychedelic bands. ~ Heather Phares
Much more progressive than their first effort, the album also showed the band losing touch with some of their most obvious strengths, most notably their disciplined arrangements and incisive songwriting. The arrangements are more ...
| | Dragonfly CD (1968)
Human Beast, Vol. One CD music
$11.09 A favorite among some collectors of rare late-'60s/early-'70s psychedelic albums, Dragonfly's self-titled LP is a not-so-finely balanced mixture of the sort of overwrought bluesy hard rock by bands of the period like Iron Butterfly with the poppier, more power chord-driven hard rock of the late-'60s Who. While it might be predictable for a critic to prefer the Who influences to the more generic psychedelic hard rock ones, Dragonfly are at their best when they favor the former over the latter. When they get into more standard blustery macho rock à la "Blue Monday" (not the ...
| | Stooges Fun House CDs (1970) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Deluxe Edition
Human Beast, Vol. One music CDs
$16.45 FUN HOUSE sounds like an extended, guttural war cry from deep within the psyche. While the Stooges' excellent debut, produced by John Cale, had a clean, punchy sound that introduced the band's ragged, stripped-down rock, it did not capture the chaotic fury of the band's live spirit. The Stooges hired Don Gallucci (formerly of the Kingsmen) to produce FUN HOUSE, and he gave the album a murky, swampy ambience that lacks clarity and precision, yet compensates for that lack tenfold with immediacy and a staggering sonic punch in the gut. And where THE STOOGES can sound like bratty teenaged ...
| | Robin Trower Seven Moons CD (2008) Digipak
Human Beast, Vol. One songs
$12.89 Jack Bruce must have enjoyed his 2005 get-together with Cream so much that, when Clapton and Baker were unwilling to continue the collaboration, he rang up Robin Trower to renew the brief power trio fling they had in the mid-'80s. The Trower-Bruce pairing had released only two albums, B.L.T. and Truce, and was dormant since 1982, so this 2007 reunion was somewhat of a continuation of the project, albeit one separated by a quarter ...
